I have it but don't normally use it. It's good for practicing procedures but the physics is not realistic.

Seriously?

Yep, airplanes in FSX (or any microsoft sim) don't handle the way they are supposed to and don't respond to wind properly. AH is the only simulator (that's you can have on a home computer) that has realistic physics.

I beg to differ, I personally (Yes as in neighbors) know airline pilots, as well as my experience as a private pilot and we can tell you that it is pretty spot on.

Try taking the same plane you fly in real life and do a spin (or even just a stall) in it, you'll see that it will want to spin a lot easier. Also as far as I remember when doing x-wind landing in FSX the airplane wants to yaw instead of roll. That's just a few things that I remember from the top of my head.
I have yet to fly an airplane that handles the same way in FSX as it does in real life.

Nope, Stalls and cross wind landings are pretty close...took a C182 up and stalled...pretty good. Held nose up until plan stalled, nosed over and regained control....seems to work to me

Hmm...
I don't remember if FSX originally comes with C182 or not, does it? If not, where did you download it, maybe there is someguy out there that makes good planes for FSX, but everything I seen so far does not work.

The problem I've found with all the FS series sims is the stall!

It seems like there is no progression to the stall and become quite abrupt, but recovery seems to simple.

Those are my impressions and YMMV.

I know some airline pilots too, and it's not spot on. But it's a cute sim that gives a pretty good idea of how stuff works. What bugs me in every single sim is the engines always match each other 100%.  :joystick:

In my defense, my neighbors and I are not your average FS9/FSX fliers. I literally have around $450 in add-ons, not including aircraft.

FSPassengers, RealEnvironment Extreme, USA ground environment to just name a few.

FSPassengers creates the realism of flights, it grades you on how you preform each flight. Grades you on if you have the beacon turned on before engine start, landing lights under 10,000ft and 250knots or below under 10,000ft, correct altimeter, no more than 30 degree bank angle, no reverse thrust under 60 knots, and ect.

Breaking some of the aircraft operations limits will result in broken equipment, such as flaps being lowered at high speed or landing gear.

It simulates failures and makes the plane react as it does in real life, such as not having all the engines perfectly sequenced in thrust.

I fly the IFly B737, this also adds to the realism when I fly, here is the link:

http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=iflyfs9

So again, I do have A LOT more add-ons to my simulator than most... this might be the reason why.
