Raptor, it seems cool. but let me ask... have you heard someone screaming cause their bone is their out of their calf, after landing on a bed of sharp rocks? its gut wrenching the scream.

have you ever seen a mans face ripped to shreds because he was thrown from a car and slid face first on the asphalt?

did any of this make me toss my cookies, no, but it tought me first hand how not to joke about an accident. its all "fun" watching them in movies or fantasizing about seeing one in reality until you are the EMS that has to deal with the patient. not every is as lucky as this guy you speak of.

I dont mean to bash you, but had it been serious injury inflicted on the man you would have thought just the opposite of "this is cool".

But those of you guys who have kids, have you noticed how the perception of life changes more and more after you got kids?

I used to be a wild one, and absolutely had "wanted" posted all over my forehead when it got to things like crazy car/motorcycle driving. But since it was being posted in my forehead I did not see it myself until I got older and got me a mirror.. read-> (kid)

I used to swear that I would never grow up and be one of those boring A4 characters that live by the law, drive the speed limits, drive a boring stationwagon to the mall, shortly spoken fall into that boring pit of autopilot life that parental responsibility seemed to be.. Well, guess what....  :noid

I got rid of the stationwagon, but that has more to do with the upcoming 40 years crisis than anything else I guess..  :old: :lol
But it is kinda funny to think back at how I used to live, not afraid of anything and living by the code of: "It'd never happen to me". And now.. Well, it can sure happen to anyone, but I am SO lucky it never happened to me! Yet anyway..  :pray
And each time I feel like stepping on it nowadays I just have to take a look in my rearview mirror and look into those blue eyes of junior in the back seat and I get all warm and fuzzy inside again..  :P

Jesus...and I thought the younger generation were a bunch of babies...

You guys take things to n'th degree and never look back..."People getting hurt are not cool.." OH REALLY!? No $#%@

He was not talking about any injuries what so ever...he was talking about how a potentially bad accident turned into a possible learning experience...

Lets take football for example...you have a free safety in the backfield that JUST TOTALLY destroys a RB going for the touchdown. The safety literally pushes the RB into the air and makes him flip on his back, but the RB jumps right up and walks away... NOW THAT IS COOL!

Now here is the fun police coming in...(IE: You, Skorpion and a few others) Oh that's not cool, he could of broke his back, neck, leg, arm, ect... SHUT UP! I don't care what coulda happened...the fact is, IT DID NOT.

You focus so much on what could have happened you forget to enjoy the wonders of life, the wonder of how this biker who could have been hurt, did not. The cool thing is he did not get hurt... and to be honest seeing some machines being destroyed is cool. Destruction in itself is cool because it is chaos...in a world of control the hunger for chaos grows...

luckily this guy only broke a motorcycle, obviously he had more than just a good headgear I am guessing full leathers or he would had had some roadrash.
I have been riding for my whole life first bike was a rupp roadster, I was ten broke it in half jumpin the driveway..lol...If any youngungs just getting their license please rememeber it only takes a second at 50 miles an hour to die, parents please make sure your kids take rider courses before letting them buy a crotch rocket and proper riding apparel a must, full face helmet and leathers a plus :aok
motorcycle riding can be a great family experience it can aslo lead to tragedy ride safe

you did not catch my point on my post (assuming your referencing it). you clearly have not seen what i mentioned in my post, "IT DID NOT" is kind of like saying "It wont happen to me". just as easy as it didnt happen, it could VERY easily have been a blood spewing mess.

"It did not" it nothing like saying "it wont happen to me." Are you assuming that if you think like that and say that crashes are cool when no one gets hurt, that we automatically assume it wont happen to us?

It is because we know the consequences of crashes we can have an appreciation of how cool it is when someone escapes death. Cool, lucky, amazing, ect....all mean the same.

if you were trying to make this point in your original post, i appologize. I agree with it 95%... but there is always some sort of injury sustained in an accident, long or short term, physical or mental.

speed im sure played a large role in the act of the man not having an injury. sure, moto cross riders take spills doin 100, and some times more,  and walk away fine, but they arent sliding into curbs or trees or other vehicles (as much). in all reality, how often do you see a civilian wearing full protective gear on the road? most i see is a helmet and padded jacket. i seldom see pants or boots.

The MCY accidents are always the worst. The victims are almost always young with futures that were full of promise. The familys are always devestated. Theres somthing about young people dieing thats many times worse then old farts like me dropping.

And the accidents themselves? I once had a kid who wiped out at 90mph and go head first "no helmut" into a concrete elevated train support. I had to use a shovel and a broom to bag, for the ME, what once was a young mans mind. And the state and county guys got it far worse then we do. Fatals all the time.

Honestly at this point in my life I dont want to see anyone suffering or dieing. Not even the bad guys who have it coming.

The guy was wearing a t shirt shorts and tennis shoe's, I decided for myself to wear jeans and a padded jacket with a helmet. Boots or tennis shoes I don't know. I would like to set a good example on what should be worn.

boots. when you spill (God forbid) your foot will have more support and better protection over all.

i do have my bike license. i've had it since i was about 25. i haven't ridden in about 3 years, due to various reasons, ranging from being too(in my opinion) tired to be safe on a bike, in too bad(in my opinion) of a mood to make good decisions on a bike, or lousy weather.

lately, it's been the sheer incompetence of jersey drivers that's kept me off the bike. it'll be the one i don't see that gets me.
