Well all joking aside if you live in the US there is a big call for engineers right now and getting an autocad certificate can be a very useful thing.

Learn a skill like the metal working and you can't go wrong EVER! You can always learn design and drafting as you get older. REAL WORLD WORK PLACE SKILLS are the best for anything.

yup, I'm going to school after highschool to become a mechanical engineer. decent demand

In the past 10 years something like 40% of the engineering force (in America) has retired.
Were talking guys that started when the Apollo program was in the works.

As have the vast majority of machinists, sheet metal workers and the like that produce and make the things that an engineer dreams up. Most of the time those same workers are the ones that teach engineers how to do things the right way AFTER they went to college to learn how to draw on a computer.

At least that has been my experience with mechanical engineers.

did you know those guys that went to college to "learn how to draw on a computer" are some of the people that design the M1A1 abrams tank, new IED resistant humvees and guns for our military? either way, drawing on a computer or building you cant have one without the other.

Lucky you, when I was in High School we didn't have much in the way of electives, barely anything. But what we did have, was awesome. I took robotics Junior and Senior year, and in that time we had 5 teams go to the world championships in Dallas, I even met grant from Mythbusters there.

haha Being a sophomore is fun, first week me and all the other people in higher grades scared the crap out of the freshmen about freshman friday  :rofl Friday came around and you could see all them nervous faces everywhere. sucks that only a few kids got dunked instead of a ton   :rofl
