Jason Momoa was awesome in Game of Thrones...but I've always loved the Schwarzenegger/Milius film

you guys obviously never read the original Robert E Howard stories... first   Conan was a very intelligent individual for his world, he was Panther like, far from Muscle bound, REH describes him at around 16,  6'0" 180   with smoldering blue eyes and BLACK hair.

the movie's with Arnie are a disgrace to REH's Conan, don't get me wrong I very much enjoy the first movie but I don't think of it as a "Conan" movie.

if you enjoy the Conan stories and have never read Robert E Howard....well that is something you need to correct :aok

This ^^^^^^ I just rebought the Death Dealer series that Frazetta did the cover art for as well.

True but back in REHs day being 6' tall was like being 6.4" tall today. REH also described Conan as a "veritable giant". I was never a fan of Arnies Conan. Maybe cause the books and shorts were so descriptive and rich, writen by the greatest fantasy writer in history. Why did you have to die so young REH ? :cry There was so much left for you to do.

i found a list with some titles i missed in my youth...damn

a friend and I where talking about it last night....  he was 6' at 14 that's Howard's earliest story of him.

I agree Howard was the best of the best, he died because he was a momma's boy, he always told his mom when she dies he would to, an hour after she died he took his own life.

sad for sure.

some of my favorite by him were the Death Dealer's  :rock

they have out now a days, complete reprints of all of his works, unchanged, the ones you read as a kid were all "edited" find the newer ones they are great, not that the ones you read were not but, you can see the difference.

Howard you were great and sorely missed :salute

Jason Momoa will do a fine job as Conan. Far better than Arnold ever did.

Good film. By far the best of the Conan films. The real star of the film was the digital recreation of the Hyborian age.

Only issue was it was to short. Another 15 mins could have told the story better. 3 out of 4 stars.

I liked it alot. Only real complaint was not enough action, imo, and the 3D was lame, dont waste your money on that. The best part of the movie was the beginning, of him as a kid. THAT was brutal.

The scenes shown on commercials are not inspiring me to want to see the movie. I watched the originals last week. :D

Conan flops at the Box Office, the film made only around $10 million ($90 million budget) the first week.  ;)
Sorry Mamoa, there is only one real Conan, thats Arnie!  :D

Kind of sad it's not going to be a success.  I consider it vastly superior to the Arnie movies.  For one thing, Mamoa can talk.  Conan wasn't a dumb brute, he was just direct and didn't waste words.  I thought that came across rather well in the remake.

I don't get the hate for this movie, the reviews and complaints I've read pretty much say 'one dimensional characters, paper thin plot... blahblahblah'.  Sounds like it's pretty true to the source material to me. ;)

Would the movie really be improved by scenes detailing Conan's character evolution as he reacts to his village being slaughtered and how that shaped his psyche?  I think not.  Folks killed his people.  They need killing.  Good enough for me.

I think it boils down to the fact that it's a common type of story, and people are really starting to backlash against 3D for the sake of 3D.

I enjoyed it.  Good violence.  Worth the price of admission for the childhood scenes alone.

YMMV.

I'm 6'0" and 175lbs made of pure muscle, but  I would look like a weed compared to either of the movie conans.

For the sake of the movie, they needed a bigger guy than the original concept, if for nothing else than to draw in the female viewers.

And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

I liked the movie. My only complaint is that while there was plenty of fight scenes, I think they really dropped the ball with the final one.  I mean the big bad guy for the film gets killed falling through a hole.....I was hoping for much more.
