I had the same thought because it looks like a couple of them are smiling in glee. I thought, "What the !@#$!"
(Image removed from quote.)This LSO is having an interesting work day.....
They were, because many many Americans were upset that we weren't in the fight yet. Just sayin'.
is sad that someone posted in the comments trying to start a flame war, though...... some just don't let history be for others......<S>TC
This one irritates me.(Image removed from quote.)White House reporters dash for the telephones on December 7, 1941, after they had been told by presidential press secretary Stephen T. Early that Japanese submarines and planes had just bombed the U.S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. (AP Photo)
Obviously misrepresented descriptionSame thing with #9 of the pearl shots.Describes the Jap plane as approaching its objective yet if you look at the plane. Its bomb racks are empty and it look as if its pulling up.Neither were particularly uncommon in the day. Not particularly uncommon now either to show one thing yet discribe another.
Definitely worth a look -- great pics:http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/ww2.html
Hmm. I hadn't thought of that angle. I'm no longer irritated if it was good news that they were running off to relate.
