I generally take the 425rpm 6+50 cal option with 75%, Climb to 10-12K before i head to a base.

Beyond the difference in firepower, the light ammo 8-gun package weighs less than the heavy ammo 6-gun package.  Only light ammo 6-gun package  has any weight advantage over the light 8-gun package.
