Actually I did that out of respect because it still had my dad's plates on it at the time and I don't know how he'd feel about that.  If it were my plates on it I could have cared less!

Hey Tigger I think Mecum is in town.  You should go see the beautiful cars at auction!  Or is it St. Charles Illinois???

Nope.. Missouri (Mecum is coming to IL) but even so as a professional auto tech I kind of get burned out on cars.  I know some guys who can't get enough of working on them and looking at them but personally I guess I'm just not a car kind of guy.  The last thing I want to think about when I'm off the clock is cars and I tend to put off fixing even my own stuff until there's something that can't be put off anymore.

After working on and driving just about every make and model ever made I've come to learn that a car is a car and I just don't really see what's so special about most of them.  Unless you're talking upwards of $30-40k or more in price cars (in my opinion) are all about the same and I tend to base what I drive personally on cost, price (and availability) of replacement parts and ease of repair.  Simply put I'm just as happy driving my Festiva as I would be driving a late model Honda.

If I felt like spending the money I could probably go for a BMW (I love how they drive and how they feel and not many cars do that for me) but it would be very tough for me to justify spending that kind of money on a car.  Even $10k is too much for a car in my opinion.  My mind could probably be changed if I actually had to pay someone to work on my stuff but in my mind if a $500 POS gets me to and from work reliably then spending anything more is a waste of money.

For me being at an auction watching nice cars get sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars just doesn't seem much like fun to me.  Kind of like why I don't care much for strip clubs... just looking just doesn't do it for me and I'm too cheap to spend any money on it.

 Tig,

I couldnt agree more,I used to think I want this car or that car and like you I really like beemers but just can justify spending the money they want for those things. I have an older benz it runs well and is in great shape but the maintenance and upkeep are just more than I want to spend so I'm looking to sell it. If I cant find a buyer for it I'll likely donate it just to be rid of it.

It's a rare car that actually appreciates, something like Stampf charger,he'll be able to drive it for a few years and then get all his money back.Go buy a new car and see what it's worth the minute you take possession of it,on average you lose 20% so they are not very good investments. Of course there are exceptions to the rule but those are few and far between.

Now if you can find me a 58 507 beemer I might change my mind but till then I'll stick with my honda!

Precisely!  I've never understood why some people think license plates need to be blotted out like that.

Just remove it from your picture then re-upload it, wiping out the previous version.

I'm happy with my dads 2001 Ford F-150, everything is factory set or built, hasn't had to replace anything except gas tires batteries and oil, for my 18th birthday I get it as my own, or before if I can come up with 10K, She still runs alright

Well I suck at computers so no pics from me  My first car was and still is a 1973 Camaro 350. Lots of character in this car, and along with it her fair share of scratches, cooling problems, and occasional SNAFU's. It's classic cherry red with the camaro black stripes down the center. Im proud to call her my first car and don't plan on selling her any time soon. :airplane:
