No, really.  Sometimes you break stuff on the trail.  If you bend an aluminum rim, it's now a good boat anchor.  If you do it in while in an awkward position, sometimes it's not wise to try to jack the vehicle to change the tire.
If you bend a steel rim, at least you beat it back into shape somewhat.  Enough that you can reseat the bead to inflate it and get to a more suitable spot to safely change the tire.
I keep a baby sledge on board for situations like this and others that require some "persuasion"
