nice :D

whats your gear linkage like? the one I drove was dreadful - ok-ish going up, really slow going down the box. I had to wait for what seemed like seconds to feel it clunk into the next gear down before getting off the clutch. very frustrating :bhead

Exige has the same issues as the "donor car" concerning transmission and clutch operation.

I'm working on one we've replaced the supercharger with a turbo.

the gas(petrol for you eruo guys) powered dodges aren't that bad. they seem to be pretty reliable enginewise, but it seems as if dodge still hasn't figured out how to build an automatic transmission, as i see them get "morning sickness" way too early in their lives.

I was thinking about buying a gas engined Dodge at one time (didn't) and read somewhere re transmissions would tend to fail if they were not put into forward first - then into reverse. Something about a pump not engaging till they were put into forward gear - any truth to this ?

i've never heard of that one before. the biggest, and most common problems i see with their trannys, is that they don't go into any gear right away when cold. then when they do, they slip pretty badly. i've seen this on chrysler trannys with as low as 60k on them.

i'm fairly happy with the 318(5.2L) in my dakota. it's been ultra reliable to date, with 120k or so on the clock. it doesn't feel as powerful as the older carburetor 318's though.

i've got cutomers with 5.2's and 5.9's.....they're all happy with the engines......

The 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 (Cummins and Gas) are great, it's the new ".7 family of Engines" that are the biggest POS on the market.

i liked those a lot. there used to be a 283 powered one around my way. camaro orange, th350 tranny. sounded and ran great. he was only able to nose my 83 mustang out by about a half fender when we used to race at the airport though.

I was Chevy man all my life until I got this ford ranger . It is the easyest truck I have ever worked on and part's are cheap . Now on the other hand I put a crate motor in a 98 F150 I got a few year's back and it was the hardest truck I ever worked on .

Mine was 350 powered and not stock. Backed by a turbo 350 tranny and 203 transfer case.  :devil

I had a 305 ready to drop into mine.  I had already installed a large 4 core radiator and had the frame supports on order when it lost a T-Bone contest to an LTD.

I parted it out after that.
