Maybe some custom or odd-ball Ruger 10/22 modification?...  Most 10/22s I've ever shot though have tight and short triggers though, but then again those are unmodified semis.  The legal/less-legal aftermarket available to them is huge, so who knows the possibilities, assuming it was even a 10/22 mod.

its been years....(17) but I don't think it was a mod...I think it was factory made like that.

but I am not 100% sure...guns I don't know a lot about....swords now that's a different story :D

Any idea of a good source for a WW2 style Katana that is actually a decent blade, but not tremendously expensive?  I'd love to have an original Officer's katana, but they are hard to come by and can be pretty pricey.  So I would be interested in a well made replica.

You can find replicas around on the internet, but I'm a little hesitant to buy one unseen.  I've seen some really craptastic katanas being peddled at gun shows and would like to find something a bit better.

That looks pretty nice.  A little uncomfortable with the seller being in China though.   :headscratch:

There were a few really nice ones at the SAXET gun show when they were down here, I am not sure where you are Dave, but the SAXET goes all thru Texas LA. and AK.  if they get close check them out.

You know, I've spent a little time poking around E-bay.  It seems strange to me that an actual WW2 Japanese Katana would cost so little.  Is it the exchange rate working in my favor perhaps?  Or are they that common in China?  I realize that the Japanese did invade China during WW2...  Or do you think that these are just cheap fakes being claimed to be WW2 Japanese military swords?

Found one selling for $119, so went ahead and bought it.  From what research I have been able to do, it is most likely a fake, but looking at the photos, it seems to be a good looking sword.  So, even most likely being a fake, I won't mind having it for the little that it is costing.  Guess we'll see.  Not much to lose if it's a rip off.

I got mine I think for 150$

it was a mas produced sword by the Japanese government and givin to there regular solders, many had a family sword that they kept, many did not, these are the swords that were givin to those guys, the were not hand pounded, but done on a hammer, they are folded around 4 times, and were not clay heat treated...so do not have a  Hamon line.....

they are real.....I am sure there are fakes but they are not gonna fake a plain foot solders sword ( I doubt anyways) if they are gonna fake something it would be an officers sword or something along those lines

also  there is a difference some have 2 "rings" some have one I believe the one ring sword is for riding a horse so would be for regular military, and the 2 is for Navy
(if my memory serves me correctly)

send me a link to the one you got

hate to say it but i am not seeing any layers on that blade.....if you look at the site I posted and other swords the layers are very visible....now I have seen swords where the layers where very hard to see, but they are there...this could be the case, you"ll have to look up close if its folded you will should it.

there are people doing knock of Damascus blades but the grain is very stiff and too perfect...easy to tell the difference.

Interesting.  When it arrives, I'll take a close look and maybe get out the macro lenses and take some close up images of the blade.  I appreciate the education Ink.   :salute
