just a starting idea for troops...
« on: October 12, 2011, 06:14:38 PM »
I know there's been a fair bit of talk about troops/troop bodies larger than 10 in AH. People have been throwing in all sorts of cool things to do with them, how they might work in-game, and (arguably most importantly) how they will DIE!!! MUAHAHAHA.

But the one thing I HAVEN'T seen is how they would be classed/ armed.

My idea is to simply have either a tab in the hangar, dedicated "soldiers/troops/whatever HTC wants too say.

OR, what if we could simply select "troop/soldier" from the main tab, and have the armament selectable? I.e one could be 'bazooka', or 'Lee Enfield', or 'M-1 Garand'.

Any thoughts?  I'd really like for this to turn into "the Troop thread" so post EVERyyTHING. :D please

+1 I like it but instead have like 6 different soldiers each from one of the nations and each nation specific soldier will have weapons from those nations eg... US: M1, thompson Germany: Kar 98K, MP40 and so on
If your gonna fail, do it in such a way that people will be wondering how you managed to do that.

If it cant be fixed with duct tape, it cant be fixed at all.

now that would depend on the aircraft you are using, if you use the ju52 you will have access to the german guns

Better still, we should replace the soldier textures with full-body portraits of the AH2 staff.

The troops would have to be AI. I'd prefer to wait until we have enough people to have a human controlled army (each person controls one soldier) and not decrease the amount of planes or GVs.

Yeah, I think AI. Would be a must-- otherwise, it would just turn into. 100+ people fighting. Around a tonw. Not appealing, even to someone who doesn't play...

100 people fighting would be fun, if it would not be we would not have 100 people fighting. What good is having AI vs AI fights? I don't want to pay $15/month to watch AI fight AI.

what if you support the AI with tanks? what if you could send the AI troops to certain places if you have good rank (like what happens to control of cv)  that would sure take a lot of coding and wich is why we don't have it yet I guess. im betting infantry will take a lot of time to be included, still its good to give a +1  :D

I see your point. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. So +/-1...

I had an idea almost exactly like that, but to do with the WWI arenas, and troop bodies and their movements-- they would remain statioary, until a player takes control of them, and then the higher ranking player would be able to move them and whatever. That what you're thinking?

why not have people control squads of about 6 soliders and control all of them from a "fire control system" type thing where you aim in one place and ALL soliders in the squad aim there  :D
