Yep.

Svetsov M-63 is in a way part of the Cyclone family and Ha-40 is a licence built Benz. So either Ki-61 belongs to the DB column or Macchis should be taken out aswell. ;)

Yeah, I know, and initially I was listing things that way, but it just became cumbersome.  The C.205 and C.202 actually use DB 60X engines, not just engines derived from them the the Ki-61's heavily modified Ha-40.

A lot of other engines were going to have to be listed as derivatives as if I had gone that way.  The Russians were going to be left with only the Mikulin AM-38 as their other engines are derived from the cyclone, even the ASh-82, or the Hispano-Suiza.  Most Japanese engines were derived from other designs as well.

Ha-40 wasn't heavily modified but a straight copy, ie. a licence-built DB.

The later engine which powered the KI-61-II was indeed a Japanese modification of the DB.

And Ash-82 certainly was a Soviet born engine although Cyclone-9's design certainly was looked at while it was designed.

My understanding was that the Ha-40 was significantly lightened compared to a DB 601, which didn't do good things for its reliability.

As to the ASh-82, I may have been mistaken in my recollections.

Karnak chose to designate the whole 2100 series of Jumos as "21X" which isn't immediately clear to probably anyone who hasn't dried their eyes bookworming thru jumo documents and other luftwaffle papierkrieg

I thought that might have been what it ment. why not post the engine for those that don't know or may be interested.

For sound pack purposes I would put the Ki-61s in the Daimler Benz 60X category and I'd split the Jumo 21X into the Jumo 211 powered Ju87 and Ju88 and the Jumo 213 powered Fw190D-9 and Ta152.

Might as well as the Me410 to the "DB 60X" list.

Not yet, there is a chance that I'll have to add a Bristol engine or a Rolls-Royce Derwent engine.
