His problem isn't with the TE, it's with the Object Editor. Are you able to run the Object Editor?

The "Object Editor" crashes as soon as you start it or after you try to do something?

Are you running it as Administrator?

Are the editors installed in the default locations?

Do any of the other content editors crashing "Terrain Editor, Cloud editor, Mission Editor" ?

Need to know a little more info to diagnose the problem.

Midi, you need to upgrade that program to be user friendly.

Well there in lies the problem. I have been creating game content as far back as DOOM, prior to the
internet being main stream, and it was all modem to modem.
I can assure you that not a single "level, object, terrain" or any other editor for that matter
was or will ever be "User Friendly".

That's not really a bad thing to be honest, since there is so much more involved in creating content.
Game mechanics, a vast array of different system specs, game security, and basic aesthetics just to name a few.

For the most part if one puts in the time to research help files, read tutorials, and even ask
questions of the more experienced creators, they all become pretty user friendly to them.

I am not trying to be sarcastic, these are just my personal opinions on creating game content.

As always I am here to help.

midi, when i open object editor i see it build the gui on the right handside. as soon as it gets to the main screen(im assuming) it just stops working and throws an error.

terrain editor works fine. cloud editor opens up and i get a white screen with some letter on it. im assuming its working, but i'm not sure.

in windows7 ive tried running it as administrator, ive tried running it in compatibility mode, xpSP3, xpSP2, and 2000. does the same thing each time.

everything is in default locations.

OK make sure you have these 6 files in your editors root directory:

D3DX9_40.dll
htdlg.res
models.res
mss32.dll
shplib.res
stdshape.res

If all those are there try re-installing the AHEDIT2213.EXE and try again.

Let me know what you come up with

Did it ever run for you? Where you at one time working on a shape/object? If so it may be corrupted and causing the editor to crash when loading it.
