Texas earthquake
« on: November 05, 2011, 11:05:50 PM »
Earthquake in Texas around 11pm central time.  Shook the house and the house swam a bit lateraly, sort of like skating on ice or mud.

Seemed to be approx 4.0ish here in Wichita falls, but no media reports yet.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

I was watching the news, and they were reporting about the one that hit last night (I slept threw it).  Then the house started to rattle.  One of the dogs took off to the bedroom without me.  He doesn't do that.

USGS says it's a 5.6.  that's big, if you're not use to your house shaking.

Second one they've felt in Texas in the last month, second one I've been in Nebraska for.

My brother is in OKC and they felt it all morning long.  Had some people in my area saying we had one but the monitor dose not show it.  We just felt the ones in Oklahoma.

5.6 centered a bit east of OK City.  About 140ish miles from me.  Felt fairly strong here but didn't knock any books off the shelves so no big deal here.  It opened up some previously repaired drywall cracks though, very annoying since fixing them will probably require repainting the entire wall or ceiling... :bhead

I live in Wichita Falls to but I'm in bowie visiting family today. I was outside and the truck I was leaning against started rocking. Family that was inside the house said the whole house shooting and windows were rattling. Was rated a 5.6 making it the strongest quake EVER in Oklahoma.

I'm about 60 miles north of Dallas and felt nothing yet all my friends felt it around here. They said pictures fell off the wall, tables moving around, etc. Not sure how I missed it. That's like the 3rd earthquake in 24 hours in Oklahoma too. A 4.7, a 3.6, and now a 5.6.
