excuse me but...WHAT? are you saying the da is more realistic than the main arenas?

:headscratch:   are you saying his post was too complicated for you to understand correctly?

try reading it again, just give a shout if you need help with any of the longer words
Did you see my dad on dogfights yet?
I'll be seeing you face to face possibly next month.

I wonder how a large mission would look launching with friendly collisions enabled.

I know I would definately be hiding with my .45 nearby to collect my 37 proxy kills.

If you want killshooter off (in other words being able to shoot down a friendly), fly FSO with a registered squad.  Just dont think it will go well for you if it becomes a pattern.

As for friendly collisions... the carnage on take off from spawning in on top of each other is enough to say no to that alone.

Killshooter is on for the first few minutes of FSO - sometimes people dropped their ords on the runway or had a sticky fire button and hosed down the whole mission.

Friendly collisions and spawning on the runway?  Anyone want to volunteer to be assigned ATC for the night?  :D

I do fly FSO.   The killshooter being on adds to the realism and doesn't hurt the fun one bit.   We'll just have to agree to disagree.  I think friendly collisions would add to the game and I'd like them to be enabled for a week just to see.

The biggest problem I see with friendly collisions is that lots of people would be killing each other just by spawning onto the runway.  Heck, you could shut a runway down by just sitting on it with your engine off.

If it weren't for that, I'd like to see friendly collisions enabled, just because it would add an element to getting ganged...

Well, at what  airport have you ever seen the aircraft spawn onto the runway?  The problem of collisions between friendlies could be controled by removing the spawing points on the runways and only allow the aircraft to spawn at the hangers.  A small airfield has three Fighter hangers and two bomber hangers.  Spawning could be changed so that only one aircraft at a time would spawn and the next aircraft could not spawn in that hanger, until the first aircraft had cleared the hanger.  The aircraft would then have to taxi to the end of the runway to takeoff.  Just as they did during WWII.

Well at what airport have you ever seen a cold start done in less than five seconds?

So you can shut down an airfield by spawning in the hangars and sitting there with your friends.  Yup... it would happen too.

I agree that it doesnt hurt FSO... I fly there too and its nice having it on... it does add to it.

But in the MA's you are only going giving those that love to ruin the enjoyment of the game for others a new toy to play with...  Bad... bad idea for main arenas.  You think you would see a mass exodus of paying customers if they were on in the MA's.

This is a solution in search of a problem.

You can say that again.

That's when you need killshooter, so someone can up a jeep and take 'em out. Like me. :D

A really simple aid to realism would be to turn on friendly collisions and the ability to shoot friendlies.   You'd have to be more careful in furballs and especially when five of you are ganging up on that lone con that's desperately trying to avoid a certain death.    You'd have to be careful landing and taking off - and you'd be cursing the friendly wirble sitting in the middle of the runway.  The key thing is that this wouldn't take any HTC time to accomplish.   Switch 'em on HiTech!
you need to stop smoking twinkies and droppin' kool-aid.

Flown with friendly collisions on the AVA in the past and its not worth the trouble. People getting killed cobnstantly because they spawn on the RW at the same time somebody else does is a real buzzkill.

Not much to say about friendly collisions just collisions in general I hate the one being shot down and the one that collided flies home
