Full-time landscape and irrigation drafter and designer (mostly commercial), contract nursemaid (two parents - three consecutive hip replacements/reconstructions - last eight months), and part-time volunteer at the local CAF wing (SoCal).

Been a drafter for about ten years now, recently moved back home after a wicked divorce or divorcing a wicked - whichever you fancy or whomever you believe.  The folks have actually been needing me around between the good manfuacturer's defect they got out on their joints atm and their 25-yo roof that's now as good as new for this season.... anyways, so I'm taking this pretty good opportunity I got to finish repaying debts and I'm trying to make up my mind about what to go back to school for or where to to find a new job thats more involved in aviation and interesting to me.

When things in R/L straighten up I will be driving something similar to this. Am I wrong to think it is a work of beauty??



Ans yes it will be with that company too, if it wasn't for the situation at home i would be driving for them already.

'Project Manager' for a small light pole company.  I do sales, costing, quotations, manage the project from purchase to delivery.  I also do structural designing and CAD work to ensure that the pole is structurally sound and build the package to go to the customer for approval.  I work with engineers a lot to ensure that all applicable codes are factored in and accounted for.

It's boring, doesn't pay enough, and I don't look forward to getting out of bed in the mornings.  On the other hand it does pay fairly well and, in this economy, that doesn't suck.

As others have said prior I didn't start out to do this.  I thought I'd retire at General Dynamics after 30 years but I was a victim of the 'peace dividend'.  *shrug*

How strong (if any) demand for revit-format specs/details have you guys had from your clients in the last 2-3 months compared to say 6-12 months before that?  I'm starting to see some hype dye off (*shakes his CADMonkey fist at autodesk*), but I'm not counting on seeing the genre completely fade out yet.

I work I.T. for a CU full time. Recently picked up a line job at the local airport working one day a week (I was bored). Discount on AVGAS

I am a mechanic on the F-35 out here at Edwards AFB. My plane is AF-3. Its a lot of fun, and there are new things being accomplished everyday.

It's been about the same actually they are starting to demand more detail on the drawings.  I'm a victim of my own success here because I set up a system to turn designs around quickly and efficiently which is unusual in this industry and now my customers seem to think it's easy so it's no big deal to request several a day and stamp their feet when they're fifth in line.

I don't see that genre drying up soon at all unless they come up with a way for it to be automated and, as much as I trust computers, I'm not sure it's possible to program to cover the nuances of all possible permutations on a project.

Hopefully you will keep it cleaner than that. Not a bad company from what I hear. Does their flatbed pay better?
