Whenever TT gets taken by one country, their is a man you can call. His name is Guppy and no one can bomb vulch TT fields quite like Guppy.

For some reason, this brought up a distant memory.
After looking over the map, our squad realized there weren't any air battles occurring possibly due to the unusual increase in distance between opposing airfields. So, we decided to capture an airfield deep within an enemy's territory to create a furball. After a failed attempt, we decided that perhaps a ground assault would be best, but it would require us capturing a nearby vbase.
So off we went to capture the vbase. We went in with medium bombers to take out the hangers and enemy gvs. After nearly an hour of fighting, the base was finally secure for a goon to come in. Seconds before troops were in the map room P38s came rushing in and foiled our plans. So now we came back in fighters only to have the P38s fly home early partly due to the amount of time they needed to get home and partly due to the amount of time it took us dead pilots to return to the fight. After that event, we decided to divide our forces, half would continue to bomb GVs and vehicle hangers, while the other half would provide air cover against those P38s. By now more enemy gv'ers were defending this base. With less bombs coming in due to us having to divide our forces, we were losing the battle with every passing minute. The battle for the vbase was always foiled as either a 38 or a gv would still be alive to take out the troops. Each of us taking turns at piloting the goony bird while the others were having fun fighting.
With frustration levels high, we took a step back to reassess the situation. It was then that we realized, "hey, we finally got ourselves a fight in the air!", the very idea we were after from the beginning! So we all strapped ourselves in fighters, abandoning the capture of the vbase, to pursue our goal of having fun dogfighting others. Once we arrive to the area of the fight, I get a PM from one of the P38 pilots thanking us for the fight and a <S>, and that they were off to bed. Argh!
