This thread is highly educational. For example, I had never known of the WeiBwurst line in Germany, and it clearly is of great importance, with historical roots dating back to the times of Caesar's campaigns in Gaul.
Germany is a wonderful place. I have visitied it only a couple of times, though, and even then my visits must be qualified (as explained to me by my German host) because I have only been to Bavaria. "I have never been to Germany before," I said upon my first visit. My Bavarian host said, "Well, you sort of still haven't. Bavaria is to Germany what Texas is to the United States." I knew exactly what he meant and so liked Bavaria even more.

On a separate note, Zack, I am mortified that you would think that I like white wine. Only reds for me, but of course not with pies or wursts, which demand beer. If you ever visit the Seattle area, I demand that you contact me so that I can take you out for some of the best local beer.
