Some maps do support certain play styles or combat options less than others. For example trinity fresh up can make it difficult to actually "fill up the sky with airplanes both friend and foe"
But while all maps will get both "it sucks" and "it's great" comments, there is one single map that would even empty out LWO and making everyone go LWB each and every time.
The trinity point I will grant you. Fresh up, it takes a bit to get going. I don't know which map you're talking about in the second part, but ok.
IMO they really should take a good look at the maps and possibly create some new ones. I assume it's easier for a map to get stale if one GVs a lot. I don't, so maybe that's why the map has a minimal effect on me.
I wonder if GVing has become more popular the last little while, and if that has impacted more peoples' perceptions of the maps and the game in general. From the ground, the terrains are awfully simplistic, and with the increase in GV centric play (my perception, maybe I'm wrong) I think maybe the terrains need to be looked at with more of a focus of making the game better for GVs.
I don't really have a horse in this race. I fly to shoot down other planes, I'm somewhat of an altmonkey, and I don't really care about the ground war other than hoping the enemy will send bombers into my sector. Due to this style of play, my gaming experience is probably the least terrain dependent out of all possible scenarios. Maybe that skews my perspective a bit.
