"make the map yourself" is not a valid answer, The game is not free, it should come with updated content regularly.
QFT
The software to make maps is overly complicated and time consuming. The standards for maps aren't apparent or immediately accessible. The folks who have the ability to make maps (Terrain Team) seem to be locked into making maps for Special Events - perminantly.

It should not be the responsibility of the player to keep the game fresh.

I laughed my bellybutton off when I looked up Hitech Creations on Urban Dictionary. Not because the definition was funny but due to it's ironic accuracy.

I heard that a bunch of new player-made maps have already been submitted to HTC...so even though, with the monthly cost of the game, it shouldn't be necessary for the community to create content, that has regrettably been the case...

But we can't even get them approved to be added to the rotation!?!?  :old:

The thing that cracks me up, is no matter which map is up, there is someone on the text buffer going, 'God this map is crap.'  I think that is where the 'build your own' sentiment comes from.  If you don't like the current map(s), who better to fulfill your map desires than you?

I've never really understood the 'this map is crap' mentality.  There are bases, there is sky above those bases.  That sky is filled with airplanes both friend and foe.  What more is needed?

Some maps do support certain play styles or combat options less than others. For example trinity fresh up can make it difficult to actually "fill up the sky with airplanes both friend and foe"

But while all maps will get both "it sucks" and "it's great" comments, there is one single map that would even empty out LWO and making everyone go LWB each and every time.  ;)

Anyone can make maps - it's not just those on the "terrain team".

How many other games thrive on player mods to keep them fresh?  Lots.

How many can you list that also charge a monthly fee?

For our yearly fee it would be nice to have some professionally made maps from the developers.

If I was to make a map, I'd want royalties for it.  ;)

There are developer made terrains. Many are made by HTC faithful. If you want to help great. If you just want to complain... well your just at the mercy of everyone else.

The trinity point I will grant you.  Fresh up, it takes a bit to get going.  I don't know which map you're talking about in the second part, but ok.

IMO they really should take a good look at the maps and possibly create some new ones.  I assume it's easier for a map to get stale if one GVs a lot.  I don't, so maybe that's why the map has a minimal effect on me.

I wonder if GVing has become more popular the last little while, and if that has impacted more peoples' perceptions of the maps and the game in general.  From the ground, the terrains are awfully simplistic, and with the increase in GV centric play (my perception, maybe I'm wrong) I think maybe the terrains need to be looked at with more of a focus of making the game better for GVs.

I don't really have a horse in this race.  I fly to shoot down other planes, I'm somewhat of an altmonkey, and I don't really care about the ground war other than hoping the enemy will send bombers into my sector.  Due to this style of play, my gaming experience is probably the least terrain dependent out of all possible scenarios.  Maybe that skews my perspective a bit.

can you name a few of those pay per month games where players make maps for the game owners? im not talking about PC games that are free to play once you purchase the game, most have a development teams that do there updated maps in house. if i could draw a map to there specs, and i have tried but its just to confusing for me I'm not a trained game designer and besides my time is money just like there's is.

Your not making maps for the owners.... your making them for the community which includes yourself.

I used to make H2H terrains.  That is nothing compared to the very time consuming MA terrains. I don't complain about the terains because I know what goes into them. If I had a problem with them I'd make one.

They make the same money if you make a terrain or not. They don't sell terrains.

The fight is among people. The terrain is just there to keep us from all falling in the water. :)

would i fly on one terrain, most likely not, don't get me wrong i love this game, i haven't flown but no more than 1 hour 20 Min's this month i have already payed for next month but wont be flying, who knows when i will feel that excitement to fly again but i whole heatedly continue in paying wither i fly or not, I support the game and it's owners if not i would of just canceled my account.  :)  if i knew there was something ( maybe a month or two free) i would dedicate myself to building a map, like Ive said everyones time is worth something IMO.
