I've always considered the bullets holes, as Fugi said, eye candy.  I never thought these represented actual damage done to a specific area, though maybe a general area.

not nesisarily saying that. but when a .50 is shot from d800 behind me it should be.
seems like 3/4 times i get PW'd it doesnt show the holes. somtimes it does somtimes it doesnt

     I think an API 50 round still has plenty of energy at 800 yards.

Machfly and I did some testing and discovered that the 'hit box' area was larger than the pilot.

The Kanonenvogel had 6 rounds per pod, this is not even close to being open for debate.
