I didn't know Radon was some new thing that warranted a fancy solution. There's a whole big Internet out there and you stumbled into your basement somehow?

Honestly, the first thing that popped into my head, is that when I was a kid they would send us home from school with these pre-manufactured perforated tuna-can radon/carbon-monoxide gas absorbers/detectors... now, take ~30yrs of inflation into account, the shift in price of raw materials and tin...  $4,000 bucks a pop huh?  Knew I should of invested my milk money when I saw the chance.

A cheap $10 fan to exhaust air out of the basement/crawl space would work just as good, eh?

Radon is an invention of the liberal media meant to harm the glow in the dark turtle industry.

Yep but now they will make a $1000 instead of a $10 sale for something to move air

Im in the moderate risk according to the map, never tested it underneath. Should have enough airflow to keep things good anyway. If not, it would be easy to put a small blower at one of the crawl space vents

If anything, you should be trying to get more of this wonderful substance.  You never know what sort of awesome super powers you may get.  it's one of the many bonuses to the wonderful mystery that is radiation.

I may be wrong but it is my understanding that Radon wasnt as much  of a problem "back in the day" And it didnt really become a larger problem until everyone started making their homes nearly air tight with energy efficient windows. and added insulation both inside the walls and under the siding to be more energy efficient.
Seems before homes used to breathe so's to speak and the radon wouldnt have as much of a chance to accumulate and would simply vent out through the walls and windows and through drawn out the furnace chimney vent
Now  homes are so air tight that the radon gas has no place to go and just accumulates.

Since the 80s, I have been telling my friend to never allow guests or kids to sleep in the basement on the floor.

Some didn't listen and one who was a stoner had moved his bedroom to the basement and had a mattress on the floor.    He died of cancer.

Drug abuse is not very healthy, that contributed to the cancer far more than radon most likely.

There are actually health spas that advertise the 'healthy effects' of radon gas in the pools :D

The "tightness" of homes today is a good thing.  There are no ill-effects from a "tight" home.  In fact, the tighter the better, as you save so much on energy costs its amazing.  Air infiltration is a serious cause of energy loss in a home.  Air handling in the home is another issue.  Radon accumulation is so simply remedied its almost ridiculous that its an issue.

Im not disputing what you say. Only that as a result. Radon now accumulates as opposed to being vented out on its own
