In-game View Options
« on: December 07, 2011, 10:02:51 PM »
I'm running into some difficulties getting my View Options set. What I'm trying to do is get it so when I hit a specific view, it snaps right to that view rather than pans to it. In the View Options I think I've tried every setting, and combination of setting, imaginable, but no luck. It would seem to me by having "Default to Instant View" unselected (so it snaps to view instead) would do it, but that does not have an effect.

What is equally odd is that when I first reinstalled the game the other day, the snap views were working fine. Unforutnatley I have no idea what I did to break them.  :bhead

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

To use the Instant views or whatever they are actually called (press Right and it instantly looks Right):

Clipboard>Preferences>View Options> Select "Default to Instant View"  and start a new flight. The setting doesn't take effect for the current sortie if you change it in-flight.
I just tested it offline and having that option selected made my views snap into the direction instantly, no panning. Not sure if it makes a difference (and I already forgotten the name of it, didn't test it) but the third check box in that screen I have selected if that makes any difference.

If that isn't working you may have a corrupted file? Skuzzy would know that way better than I, just a guess.

Heya Vortex,

Also, you may have inadvertently hit  F9 or F8 keys when you was trying to save a head position view ( the F10 key )

F7=  Direction Mode Snap  ( or Snap View )

F8=  Direction Mode Pan  ( or slow panning view )

F9=  Direction Mode Instant  ( or Instant View )

F11=  Padlock Direction Mode  ( or Padlock View )

you can find all the key (keyboard) commands here:

hope this helps

Thanks for the help guys. F9 seemed to fix the problem. I think you probably have it right TC, I likely hit the wrong key while setting my views.

Thanks again folks!
