Night...
« on: December 13, 2011, 03:57:44 PM »
If they are gonna try some reduced icon ranges, why not bring back night time.
If its good enough to keep GV'ers happy why not bring it back for the players who enjoyed the night hunting..

( why are there not as many people playing AH as there used to be?)

No

There might be some people who would enjoy it but I highly do not recommend ruining the game for other 99.9%.

The reduced icon ranges are for air to GV as far as I know. It has nothing to do with air to air. Running night would effect air to air more than any reduction in air to ground icon ranges does GVs. People logged off in droves when we had night, and the few that stayed bumped up their gamma. Might as well just shut down the servers for a bit a save the electricity.

Cept that it didnt for 99%
99% didnt log off. I doubt even 30% even logged off. Just enough to cause HT to change it.

Im for the return of night as I enjoyed the whole 15-20 minutes at a time it was around. I just highly doubt it will be brought back

What makes you think everyone who did not log off enjoyed it? Perhaps they just had nothing better to do.

What makes you think it was 99% who didnt enjoy it?

I never saw anywhere near even 50% complain about it. More often then not it was the same  10-15 players whining about it over and over making claimes of "most." when those claims werent even close.
I know far more people who enjoyed it or at the least didnt mind it for the relatively short time it took place then who didnt like it.

Thats the part that cracked me up too. It was only in effect for a short while each time it happened. Its not like it lasted 8 hours at a clip.
I dare say most people I know go AFK to take a leak or get something to eat that take at least as long.
The entire complaint is silly at best.

How can you possible enjoy night?
You might as well turn your monitor off and sit there pretending to fly.

Easy. I had my monitor calibrated correctly. Many dont. I myself didnt think so until I calibrated it (Had a link posted somewhere) If everything was/is black to you then you dont.

Night time should look like a bright harvest moon, not pitch black. If you;ve ever been outside during one you can actually read by that kind of light.
You should be able to see pretty good at a decent distance but longer distances you start to have problems. I find visuals on other cons during night to be about the same or slightly better then during FSO where you have a limited range.

Im looking for some screen shots someone took a while back of what night time should look like to you

Night time flying is one aspect aces high needs to bring back. I'm sorry a few kids will log off simply because they can't see - well neither did anyone in World War two, the hazard of flying at night was instrumentally hard, however we have Icons.

It should of been brought back long ago, enough of this arcade crap.

I'm guessing that night wouldnt be "pitch black"

I'd like to try it!

A concern would be the little crank the gamma trick, and the silly amounts of nasty pm's complaints, and general whining that I think would result.

IMO its very unlikely it will come back cept on special occasions like Christmas (For which I am rarely if ever on because of family obligations elsewhere.)
Not something I agree with but it is what it is.
Really this discussion is little more then rhetorical

I've done enough flying (real life) at night and unless your over a city you wont toejam $h1t. Half the time you wont even see the horizon.

You just gave us another reason why we should not have night. Some players will up the gamma on their monitors and make it like a day.

Oh you good and old night, I miss you so much... even they put working lights on the cockpit and was hoping for someday that they will put navigation lights, landing lights and even lights on the gv's but o well, some kids didn't like it and they took it out...  :frown:

PD: learn to calibrate your monitor/screen and you will have a great time, was hard to hit the planes but was a lot more fun.
