Next version=GV'ers paradise
« on: December 16, 2011, 03:30:31 AM »
Just got done in the Beta. GV'ers will definitely be getting a break from the Jabos. You have to be under 1500 ft in order to see them on icon range. New textures and resolution blend in very well with bases especially the v bases. The storch offers a marking capability but if spotted all the tank has to do is move. If a wirble  is parked near the tank any plane within 1k should be be easy pickins. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out when installed in MA.

Looking Forward to putting more effort into slaughtering wirbles from above if they don't massacre me first.
I actually threw together some film files into a video the other day.

The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

With the changes now that enhance the GV'rs survivability you Stuka boys need a new Stuka. Hmmmm....which one had those two big sausage slingers under the wings......

I'm just hoping HTC revokes it after it's shown to be a bad idea. Much like the ordered map capture idea. It's one thing to make the storch see icons longer ranges, but to reduce it to 500-600 yards for all other planes? Ludicrous!

That is further reduced to HALF if the vehicle is stopped. Insane!

Major whining by a few minority GV whiners who didn't want anything to interact with them in any way has now changed the gameplay dynamics.

IMO this is the worst idea ever, to give GVs such a false boost of power by hiding them in plain sight. IF such a system were to be implemented, it should be done so that planes also don't show up to GVs until the same range.

Wirble can kill you 5x over before you even have ID on it now.   :noid

(But... I guess that's what the GV whiners were counting on?)

One friendly GV on the ground or plane circling and a set or two of 29's at 20 to 30k  bombs away  :aok  theres just some people that will go to extremes to Grief people.

They could already have done that now.. Just saying: Trinity V135 ;)

It's way too cumbersome, as the reaction time is amount to an eternity. It takes ages for a B-29 formation to get u to "20k-30k", it takes a very long time to turn around / align for an approach (huge turning radius, and from that altitude the battle has better to be very confined and very stationary. GV drivers killed that way can easily write it off to bad luck and simply carry on. It's not something that would worry me as a tanker in any way. It's far from being "griefing"

The only remotely practical way would be at low altitude, but then the B-29 is still a pig, and one at 100 perks per piece to boot. A nice day for Ostwinds...  :devil

(And yes, I have been there, done that. I deliberately killed tanks from 25k on different occasions  :devil)

We'll have to see how it pans out, but I mostly agree with what you are saying.  The good news is that the Wirble's tracers make them easier to acquire visually.  We're going to hopefully see much more coordination between air and ground to make accurate attacks.

Furthermore, if they are going to reduce the range on vehicles, wouldn't it make sense that troops would have no icon unless you were 500 out?

It kind of messes with the balance of things, doesn't it?

Yesterday there was a Spitfire Mk IX that was just doing a tight circle over four or five Whirbelwinds.  Even when he had 6000ft on me he still wouldn't attack, just head for his cockroaches and try to get people to dive on him.  Because they were sitting on the concrete they couldn't be killed either.

Where did you come up with those ranges?  That's not what I posted in the beta announcement.

Ah-hah. Well it would appear that's an error on my part. I was pretty sure I'd read 600 yards in one of the forums and then when I read that "halved when stopped" I mistakenly halved 600, when it was half of 1200.

Still, IMO it takes it a step back from insane, but it's still in the "ludicrous" zone. Let's just hope it doesn't go "plaid."
