Damn...nice house.

:cry

Gonna hang onto mine as long as I can.  I bought a 2003 9-3 just like the one in the picture last June.   Turbocharged 2.0L with a 6 speed manual, leather interior.  32mpg highway, feels rock solid and safe.   Just so sorry to see them shut down.  New ones are way outta my price range but with a few years and miles on them it's a heckuva lot of car for the $$.   I seriously doubt an 8 yr old KIA or Hyundai will move me half as much as this car did when the time comes.    I really do love the shape of the 9-3 sedan.

Wonder why the Swedish govt doesn't come to Saabs rescue the way we did for GM?

Except saving 3000 jobs there were no reason for the gov to put money into a company that been losing money every year since the start except the first.

Because GM owns Saab and didn't want to sell it to a competitor for the GM licensed tech Saab sits on. They'd rather let it die. The Chinese were particularly interested in Saab. They already own Volvo.

This is close to the point.  In the Volvo case alone, there was enough patents, licenses and R&D to up the China's competitiveness for another 20-30 years.  Its still sad though, I hope GM finds a practical use for the factories and employees facing iminute unemployment - I'm sure most are sad they wont be making Saabs anymore, but would be most content to still be employed and making something.

I seriously doubt an 8 yr old KIA or Hyundai will move me half as much as this car did when the time comes.

KIA..not so much..they are still a few years away from a great car...unlike their cousin...Hyundai.

Hyundai is the best all around value in cars these days...bar none.

They build them better...and that's why they can back them better.  they also cram them with many extras...stock.

We gave our niece our old 03 elantra years ago.  it has a bit north of 180K on it....and nothing has broken.  I repeat...NOTHING has broken.

I left BWM to get the new sonata turbo.  sure the driving quality isn't BMW...but once I hit 50..I realized I also don't drive the autobauhn..so who cares?

pound for pound...my sonata limited turbo is the best car I've ever owned..and the best backed too.  and the price?  yeah....I'm Hyundai for life.

I wanted a Genesis..but it felt big and old compared to the new Sonata turbo

Just to be clear, you are saying  that Ford was bailed out like GM and Chrysler, or did I misuderstand what you meant?

You will hold on to it as long as you can?:) Pretty sure you will be changing your mind right after the first major repair..  Oh and there will be many:)

I really disagree with this statement.  A well maintained SAAB is a good car.  Not too many car manufacturers could boast about the number of 200K + miles driven cars it still had on the road.  That is until GM got ahold of SAAB.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

Ford also........

You must keep revisiting the $9 Billion Energy Department PROPOSAL that Ford never received, because they didn't want the money once they realized they were in a better position.    They only made the PROPOSAL because they did not see it right that Chrysler AG and GM could continue to mismanage their money by promoting inept executives who drove them to the ground in the first place.

Ford did not receive a penny of the PROPOSAL.

If the owner maintains the car properly, Saab's can most definitely get 200k+ out of them.   Although, I noticed one of the first things to go on the newer Saab's are the badges on the Hood and Trunk Lid.   They come off leaving a silver disc instead.

But it's a shame GM forced the POS Trailblazer design down Saab's throat to make the Q7x in GM's vision, as opposed to giving the design to the "then willing Saab".   That moment created too much tension and from that point forward, Saab was an unwilling participant.

GM grossly mishandled Saab.

Main reason Saab went the Bankruptcy route? To counter a hostile takeover
buy from Chinese and Russian investors.
They wanted to preserve technological advances and Copyrights.
