I know there are a lot of us on here, and I've seen quite a few pics of some very nice ones on here.  It's winter and I'm having withdrawels.  The one rule is that CAP can't mention mustangs in this entire thread :lol

The day we brought this one home ...April 11 .. was an awesome day.

up near Overgaard, AZ ..a beautiful day for a drive

ours is on the right

on Route 66 awhile ago

'97 6-gear coupe, black/firethorn red, 3.42's in the back, added an LS-7 clutch, B&B exhaust, Ron Davis aluminum radiator ... just a damn fine automobile.

on Vette owners and mechanics:
There are many like it, but this Vette is *mine* .. try not to screw it up or feed me a line of BS about it.
I hate mechanics who scratch the crap out of the fenders using dirty fenderguards
who dont realize that I have probably forgotten more than they know and I have a *very* low tolerance for BS.

personally, i went away from using the traditional type of fender apron years ago. the ones i use are soft cloth, and i've yet to damage or scratch a car.

i did however have a kid try to blame his cracked fender on me. thankfully i had taken pictures of it before we even moved it into the shop. i've since then heard that the 70's vettes were common for the fenders cracking at the top of the arch.

The 1963 split window corvette has always been high on my dream car list. Maybe one of these days  :pray
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

BigRat that is a beautiful 99 FRC. The most sought after color imho and the tigershark looks fantastic as always. Absolutely beautiful. I was looking for a nassau blue one when I bought my 2000frc but the pewter was local and the price was right. I'm finding pics of mine to post right now.

Ok, here are my vettes....well former vettes :cry

This is my first vette. I bought this 2002 Z06 in 2004 with 10,009 miles on the clock and bone stock. I paid $38k for it and I was only 22 at the time. I added a cold air intake, LG Pro long tubes with borla stingers out back. Dyno tuned @388rwhp. Best 1/4mile was a 12.07@116mph with a slipping clutch. Sadly I was not much into taking pictures when I had this car so all I can find are these crappy small pictures. I sold this car to buy my first house in 2006.

Cowl hood before the wheels were painted

Guess who won.......(Hint..... it wasn't the saturn :devil)

After having vette withdrawals and having a brand new house I downgraded to a 2000 Pewter FRC (hence the in game name PewterC5). I bought this one cheap for $17k. This one was more show than go although it did have a cold air intake, and borla straight pipes (noise makers). I painted the calipers red, added the front grill screens, put custom colored "commemorative edition" stripes on, and a set of stock c6 wheels (these were quite a bit heavier the factory 5 stars that came on the car). This car went back to back 12.7@108 on a good night so it could still hold its own against a lot of cars on the street.

I soon had a baby on the way so the pewterC5 was sold in favor of something I could put a baby seat in. It was replaced with the vette's obese cousin...
A 2006 LS2 powered Cts-V (400hp)

My son's first car ride of his life is in a 400hp cadillac! How cool is that!

The CTS-V turned out to be a major pain in the buttox with getting him in and out of the car seat. So the V was sold and now I have a boring  yukon Xl. It is a much better family mover but god do I miss having a fun car. However, having a son is so much more fun and enjoyable. And I have a stripped out miata for when I get the autocross itch. Its like an oversized go cart and it tows behind the yukon nicely.

Sorry for all the pics   :salute

the wheels from the first vette would look great on the striped vette. i like the striping on that one. the hood on the first one kinda resembles a firebird.....to me anyway.

i had no clue that the back seats in the cts-v's were so tight. from that picture, it looks almost like fitting a full grown adult back there wouldn't work too well?

there's stuff you can do to make that yukon faster.  the money will be better spent on the miata though. i almost bought one from a customer, but he would only sell it to me if i bought his v-12 7 series bmw, which had way more problems than i wanted to fix in order to resell that one. i wanted the miata to either turbocharge, or do a v-8 swap. had another customer with a miata(with those stupid cow pattern seats) turbocharged, and intercooled, running 12.0's. it was his only car, and he flogged that thing every chance he got.

Plawranc,  If that's yours, very nice :aok  68?

What Steve did was something I have been contemplating for years but didn't have the space for.  I always wanted to strip down a C4, and make a roadrace car out of it.  There was a tempting one at funfest this year, already had a full cage with fabricated dash and gauges, and carbed 383 out front.  Wife would have killed me or made me sell one of the others.  Very cool Steve :aok

Reaper90,  you can always get another, C5's are quite the bargain anymore, especially modified ones.  Bang for the buck they are hard to beat on the used market.  I've been driving vettes since I was 17, I hopefully plan to keep that streak going till I'm too  :old:  Looks like you had a nice build there, very similiar to my buddies 02 Z06, you had about 20hp on him though (he has stock heads still).

Grayeagle, you have to love a clean black vette :D

helbent,  I think that's a cup I accidently walked out of Pizza Hut with 20 years ago :lol

SilverZ06,  actually mine is a 2000 FRC :D, so it's one of the 2000 or so that year (only about 6000 FRC's total were made, for those looking for trivia) one of only 138 Nassau Blue FRC's built in 2000.  Funny how a color isn't popular, then comes back popular like 6 years later as jetstream blue :headscratch: .  Wow you had 3 nice cars in the last 6 years it looks like.  I really liked your FRC, that had a nice combination on it :aok.  I have a soft spot for FRC's becouse they are not well known and everyone just assumes they are a Z06.

For some of you I see that I have to be more specific in my term vette  :lol

Specs on the FRC for those that are interested.

112 maggie "ported" 3" pulley front 3.2" rear
Stock LS-1 shortblock
80mm BBK TB
Heads done by Breathless Performance
2.05intake, 1.575 exhaust
flow 303 intake at .6
flow 238 exhaust at .6
comp cam 227 intake 242 exhaut .613 lift both 113 intake centerline 115 lobe seperation
1 7/8 full length headers
x pipe w/o cats
corsa Tigershark pacecar mufflers
Racetronix fuel system
SVO 48lb injectors
ECS alky control system

533 rwhp/ 512 rwtq (w/o alky system) suspect around 550 currently without alky tune but using it.

Suspension is a mix of C5 Z06 and C6 Z06 parts (yes most suspension parts are interchangeable between the two, much like C2 and C3 parts)

I grew up in a Corvette household. Dad owned a couple C4s and his cruise around toy is a 96 Convertible. I've got him interested in making a few passes and trying autocross so we'll see if that comes to fruition.  Don't have any pictures but the '86 was the first stick car I drove.
