Well I'm feeling better
« on: January 07, 2012, 09:45:43 AM »
Had my doc's appointment yesterday, the fracture in my hand fuzed, and a ganglion cyst is apparently not a burdon to it - so there won't be a surgery, simply said "lets leave it alone for now".

Instead of throwing away that money (which I had no insurance) on it, I instead decided it was time to buy a proper PC and Stick.

thrustmaster warthog I found on Amazon for $350 with free shipping, from PCRush - only thing is I need some pedals to go along with it.

I hear Saitek pedals are pretty good, what about CH? Curious why Thrustmaster doesn't make any pedals, Anyhow I have a few weeks before the PC gets built, I decided not to build it myself and simply order one (shame yes I know).

Here are some of the specs:

That's a wee bit overkill for AH, probably for most games now days as well. Go over and play the wishlist game on newegg. You can build a monster of a system yourself for less.

Can I have one of the 570s?  :huh

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I don't plan on upgrading for a few years, and I don't have the time to build it myself. Otherwise I'd happily not wait a few weeks and have it built over night.

I have a set of these pedals, retired the CH ones when they arrived and will never go back, they're excellent (Snailman agrees!)

Butcher

Look at cpusolutions.com.  I usually built my own but found that they charged very little to put a custom machine together.  I went with top of the line components because I keep my machines for about 7-8 years.   Awhile back, I got the i-7 990, 12 gigs ram, invidia gtx 580 (just one card), windows7 64 bit, 2 hard drives, etc..  It's a bit over the top but again keep the machine longer.  Yours looks good.  The coolmaster case you'll love  never gets hot really.

Well that's just great.  Now I will have to hide if I see any t34/85 lol.  Wasn't like I don't get killed enough by you Butcher  :x .
Just kidding of course, sounds like a great system.
I will have to muddle along with this walmart acer laptop for a bit, I no longer even bring up the video specs, too depressing, when the graphics have 1 gig memory and the game is turned down so low it only uses 3meg I know its just the cheap machine.
BUT, I will still go hunting for you, just for the fun of the chase.
Good news on the hand 'n' wrist though, even though I hate to see the K/D with your new system and being able to play with 2 hands now .. yikes.

LOL you will still sneak up on me with your pesky little M-18! DANG YOU! Pretty sure you have a leg up, I haven't played at all since mid-december,
I will be so out of wack your M-18 will dance around my Panther before I even notice you are there :(

I understand what you mean, I had the game so turned down It was degrading having to have absolutely no graphics, I mean I couldn't even take a screenshot because it looked like something from 1999, we both share the crappy laptop syndrome and NOT! by choice.

I will see you due time, keep pestering Hooter while you are at it he gets quite grumpy when you are around  :old:

Glad you're feeling better!

I'm with Steely on the pedals. I used the CH PRO pedals For over 15 years and they are great, but...  I recently decided, (for similar reasons), to upgrade my current Thrustmaster Cougar for the new Warthog. Along with that I went with the Simped F16 Rudders.  They are very expensive, and you will wait for delivery, but if you like playing your games with what many would consider the creme of the crop of Joystick/rudder combos, then Simp is the way to go.

Unfortunately, I did incur some shipping problems. My rudders arrived damaged. One of the arms for the left pedal was broken and the mounting hole for the right arm on the right pedal was drilled in the wrong spot, making the pedal lean to one side. Minor, but annoying after paying that much for the rudders. I contacted Simp and quickly found out how customer oriented they are.  Since they are in Germany, I asked, if in addition to the damaged and miss-drilled parts, I could order a few extra parts to have on hand, to save me from having to wait for the long shipping time if anything happened down the road. I offered to pay for those parts since I didn't expect Simp to provide them for free.

They not only sent the parts that were bad, but also sent the additional parts I'd requested -- AT NO CHARGE!  How many companies have you heard have that kind of commitment to their customers?

The toe brakes took a bit of getting-used-to, but I love my rudders. They are a major improvement over the CH PRO's, which is saying a lot as the CH PRO's were great.

you are spending way too much.  I spent about that much for my puter, but it also included trakir, 3 monitors, 2 hd drives, chfighterstick, rudder pedals, throttle, 7.1 headset and lots of beer and whiskey.

if you dont want to build your own, i would contact td instead.  he will give you better components.  the ram they sell is one of the cheapest ones and the video card may not be the "better" brands you think.

there maybe a problem with the mobo description, i looked it up in newegg and it's only dual sli.  picture looks different too.

Motherboard ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z
Processor Intel Core i7 2600K
Heat sink/Fan Prolimatech Megahalems Rev C
Memory Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
