Maybe if you believe Microsoft...
Not so according to this test and many like it http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/245856/chrome_is_most_secure_of_the_top_three_browsers_study_finds.html
according to your PCWorld article, Chrome appears to be on top
according to the below linked PCWorld article, IE 9 defends the best......
http://www.pcworld.com/article/238104/study_internet_explorer_9_defends_best_against_malware_links.htmlMicrosoft Internet Explorer 9 offers Web surfers the best protection against social engineering malware, according to test results released today by an independent research firm
"With a unique URL blocking score of 99.9 percent and over-time protection rating of 99.2 percent, Internet Explorer 9 was by far the best at protecting against socially-engineered malware,"
Internet Explorer’s test results left the scores of four competing browsers in the dust. The over-time protection rate for Google Chrome, for example, was 13.2 percent, while for Firefox 4 and Safari 5 it was 7.6 percent and for Opera 11, 6.1 percent.
it is not that I believe in Microsoft or not, it is that I rather install a software/program or I rather use a software/program without having to go and add multiple plug-ins or add-ons just to try and get the same desired effect........
and btw, I also usually have a copy of the latest stable version of FireFox, Chrome, Opera etc....... along with the most current beta version of the same 3 ( FireFox, Chrome, Opera )
the reason is to help my Mother when she wants me to review/checkout an updates she might have done to any of her online web malls / online web stores........ I do not have my gaming rigs set up like that though....... both of my gaming rigs use IE9 only and no other browser .........
all our PC's in the house also use ESET SS 5 ....... and we have a hardwire firewall in our router
as long as everyone in the family uses good web surfing habits, we really do not need anything past the Router's firewall .......... it just makes it easier for me, if one of the grand kids or great grand kids ( or neices ) come over and slip on to one of the computers and decides to go somewhere that is not allowed, like torrent sites, facebook, or something similar.......
anyways, back to the subject regarding Web Browsers....... for every article out there that claims MS is better, their will be an article saying chrome is better, or an article saying Opera is better, or saying FireFox is better..... it is a never ending cycle..... but I rather read studys from independent labs or 3rd party testing than to read something straight from the company / developer of said product......
edit: another PCWorld article refering to IE9 as being the safest Web Browser
https://www.pcworld.com/article/239572/dont_overload_your_pc_with_security_software.htmlwe all have our opinions and theorys....
cheers
