But if it were added, the N1K2 would be the ultimate "bomb****". There is not a true fighter in the game that carries 4 bombs that are easily capable of taking out a GV. I do not consider the mossie as a true figher.
You can argue that the P47 can carry two 1000lbs bombs and a 500, but thats not 4, and a reasonably average pilot can easily hit a gv with 250kgs
With all the complaints about "bomb****ing" why would anyone want this?
Because it gives more options for diversity. Right now the American bomb truck fighters have become more and more dominant over the years. The N1K2, the most used Axis aircraft, has dropped sharply in usage. The big four used to be the P-51D and Spitfire Mk IX (later Spitfire Mk XVI), which took the top two spots by a fair margin occasionally with the Spit on top, followed by the La-7 and N1K2-J, both a bit behind the two leaders but well ahead of the fifth spot. Now the P-51D absolutely dominates the top spot with the La-7 and Spitfire Mk XVI neck and neck way behind the P-51, they are followed by the F4U-1D.
Lets get a competitive Axis fighter that carries a useful bombload, not just less than half of what the P-51D carries. The N1K2-Ja would still have serious deficiencies as its performance drops off sharply over 8k and it is not exactly fast. It would also help balance later war Pacific Theater settings by giving the Japanese side a viable fighter-bomber, something they lack compared to the P-51D, P-47N, F6F-5 and F4U-1D.
(BTW, the Mossie is a superior fighter, in general, to the P-51D, but 500lb bombs are far, far less effective at tank killing that 1000lb bombs)
