i dont think this is a bad idea. but i'd make it so like others have said; the damage can affect important gauges.

Our bombers can and do explode in flight.

You two just need to fly real planes without radiators  :devil

Spitfire has 2...

Then you got to worry about shock cooling the engine  :devil

The Spit Mk. I and V only have one radiator, all the 109s in game have two.  :)

I propose anything over 50% throttle when flying on one radiator, your engine starts to heat up like it does now.

This would be highly specific to the plane and the radiator. Unless radiators are for separate systems they should be fully capable of cooling the engine without the backup radiator.

I'm pretty sure we have this effect.

I'm pretty sure we have this effect.

The "shrapnel"/"debris" that hit your plane does no damage, just causes sound effects if you fly through them. And I think I remember reading somewhere that it actually pretty hard to blow up a bomb without its fuse being turned on (which only happens when you drop them), I could be wrong, so waiting for an expert to enlighten us on this subject. Of course, no matter what, a 88mm going into a bomb bay would mean insta-death for the plane and anything else within a couple hundred yards.

Right now, planes only blow up if they take a sufficient amount of damage (bunch of taters, puffy ack, or fuel fire), or the pilot dies.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Some things I would like to see are:

1- drop tanks can catch fire when shot (they weren't self sealing like some of the wing tanks right?)

2- control lines destroyed so that the control surface is still there flapping in the wind but the pilot has no control over it.

3- damage to hydrolic lines causing the gear to extend

4- break line damage (have to roll to a stop without wheel brakes)

5- canopy damage that jams it closed so you can't bail out (I know most people don't bail anyway, but some of us do)

6- turbo charger/super charger damaged so that high alt engine performance suffers, but can still nurse it back to base at low alt

7- drop tanks that occasionaly jam and don't release

8- prop damage from enemy fire
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.
