You can adjust to an uncomfortable gun......But Why?
I would follow his advice. Double barrels are lighter and quicker getting on target, but, if you can't get the stock to rest comfortably on your shoulder when shooting, that is not good. I have owned shotguns where I had to extend my arms well beyond the comfort level while sighting in on my target due to stock length. (I do not own any of those guns anymore) Sometimes it just a 1/2" that creates a uncomfortable gun.
Heed his advice.
