This was an incredible travesty of disturbing proportions. The 22 million dollar judgement confirms that any reasonable person would agree.

If persons can be determined responsible, they deserve prison time themselves.

I think it's just a symptom of our addiction to incarceration.  I'm a proud American but I'm not proud of the fact that no other society in the history of the world has put a greater portion of their citizens in prison.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Let's not jump to any hasty judgements...  we should see if there's some sort of pattern before we jump to conclusions about Orwellian Dystopias!

tell you all this much.....ill feel pity for a DWI sleaze bag the minute they can bring back to life any one of the 3 people i have known killed by one.

you wanna feel sympathy or empathy for some one why dont you direct it towards someone who will never get the kind of payoff that dirtbag got....like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacqueline_Saburido or http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=8462765 or http://www.kfor.com/news/local/kfor-news-child-killed-by-drunk-driver,0,1497435.story

they (the prosecution office) may have later (after they realized the mistake they made) have dropped the charges against this guy, but i doubt it was from his being innocent. it would not break my heart if they treated all DWI/DUI's this way, there would be fewer drunks on the road and by reduction of them there would be alot fewer of the dead maimed and crippled children that they cause......

screw em!!!!!!!!!!

Well it sucks that we as a society tolerate getting drunk, and then getting behind the wheel and gas pedal of 2 tons of metal.

I'll call anyone a liar who says they don't know at least a dozen people who have had drunk driving convictions.  Although the laws have gotten a lot harder on those who drive drunk, the standard stigma that goes along with it is nonexistent unless you drive for a living and end up losing your job along with your driver's license.

You can buy a breathalyzer for under $100, you can exercise common sense for free.
