I haven't watched any football game in probably 15 years.
It's almost as boring to watch as NASCAR... or golf.
My memory of it is very, very brief spurts of action, interspersed into hours and hours of mind-numbing boredom with players standing around in huddles, players spending forever getting into set formations only to call a timeout, referees watching TV screens blowing whistles and throwing yellow hankies every 2 minutes, endless timeouts, and John Madden babbling incoherently while he scribbles on my TV screen during a bajillion replays. I seem to recall that in a typical 3 hour football game there is only like 5 minutes of actual football being played.
I contend that most Super Bowl fans aren't really fans of the sport, it's just an excuse for them to go to a party and stuff their face with delicious junk food.
I'll stick to watching rugby, it's kind of like football only better in every way. No "special" teams, no separate teams for offense and defense, no stopping for 1 minute after every play to reset and catch your breath, far fewer silly rules that stop play constantly, fewer timeouts to constantly stop play... it's so much simpler, they just go out and play without all the BS.
