ANTI TANK DOGS
« on: February 08, 2012, 09:19:44 AM »
It has come to my attention that the tanks fights of AH have suffered greatly from the spawn camp. I have also been wanting to see this idea in game for quite some time, so here goes.

Anti-tank dogs. Russian idea, 1942-onwards. Dogs were taught to seek food under vehicles and strapped with explosives. Dog runs under the opposing tanks and were detonated. End of story. Google for images and even videos of them.

Now, this would obviously be weird to implement and would be awfully annoying to have an unlimited supply running around. But I believe we can find a system that works, IE a large perk cost to allow the dogs to be purchased immediately to give people a chance to remove that annoying spawn camper. Or we can borrow a concept from an amazing game in an amazing community on an awesome system. This would be Call of Duty for the Xbox or Playstation. In that game they allow you to cash in kills for various items or bonuses. The floor is open for any debate but I'm thinkin somewhere in the neigh boorhood of 6-10 kills would allow you to unlock a anti tank dog.

There is also mention of the effectiveness of these dogs, sometimes blowing up their own tanks. I think there should be some probability involved here like with our puffy ack. Maybe 85% chance to destroy the enemy tank, 5% chance to destroy your own, 10% chance it finds a can of puppies choice halfway and is never seen again. I'm thinking either a direct effect on a targeted tank by unleashing the puppy, or a person controlled dog, allowing for sneakiness and dodging of enemy fire. These dogs will obviously be able to be destroyed by small arms fire and may give actual purpose to the pintle and turret guns of some tanks.

Thanks for your time, DWMW.

Recruiter: We're looking for volunteers to eat food.
Dog: Woof!
Recruiter: You must be willing to travel and eat food.
Dog: Woof!
Recruiter: The job involves chasing vehicles and eating food.
Dog: Woof! Woof!
Recruiter: You'll be working with 3 different countries. Do you speak any other languages?
Dog: Meow?
Recruiter: Great. Let's just get these explosives strapped to your back.
Dog: Grrrrrrrrrr.

I would also like to supplement to this wish.  Based on the severity of the spawn camp, dogs with different abilities can be selected to be used.  For example if it is a very minor camp, a dachshund who isn't very hungry could be selected.  Whether or not he makes it to his target is really kind of a crap shoot.  If the camp is severe, obviously you would have very hungry, well trained, nimble, and fast, Australian shepards that would make their target most of the time.  Would definitely add to the dynamics of tank battles and turn the tides of war quite effectively.   :salute

while this was used by the soviets IF this were brought in they should be modeled properly. they used t34s to train these animals which were gasoline powered but in combat the panzers were diesel so the dogs wouldent think they were targets but would instead target thier own tanks!!!! besides i dont think they were deployed in squa, errr pack strength
in peace sons bury thier fathers, in war fathers bury thier sons

I thought that the Russians trained these dogs to find food under russian tanks though?
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Come on guys, a lot of you like to brag about your 'dog fyteing' skills but those same few seem to be cowering at the thought of actual dogs.
