Banning use of Historical Squad names?

No issues with using historical squads but I do feel that it's a bit weird to give official sounding military rank within a squad.

Um, I can remember in the not too distant past when a certain squad known as the 1st SSF used a similar Rank system, had a guy named MajorTom commanding the Attack Wing, and his rank being CPT or something...maybe being a vTARD has coulded your judgement former Padawan.

On another note, I believe that we should as of this post to make the Author of this Post feel less wierd, nemk our squads after 80s and 90s cartoons. How about the "Care Bears" and "Thundercats?" Ahh, yes, I feel much less wierd, do you all?

Just the opposite in my case.  Use of historical squad names have led my children ( great grandchildren of a Wwii p-47 pilot) to search through books that we have. Bring attention to things worth remembering.

And Alchemists...  WTF does alchemy have to do with WW2, go back to WoW and horde there...

It's a stupid wish.  For a game to simulate historical aircraft, skins, and combat, wishing to end the idea of historical squadrons is pure silliness.

On top of that there is no point anyways.  Some people fly for historical relevance, some fly to furball, and others fly for whatever other reason they want.  You want to limit that???  That is a terrible idea.
