played french horn in high school. never really practiced so i was terrible. from what i remember, all of the easy notes were either fully open or just the first valve, so it was all lip control on the tiny little mouthpiece. hand position (and adjusting it on the fly) inside the bell is pretty important.

I kinda wanted to learn to play french horn, but then I realized fully that it's transposed a fourth... yeah, no thanks haha. Haven't played a transposing instrument until now, and don't really plan on it.
Trombone, guitar, piano and viola.

It's a really beautiful instrument, though. When I own 3/4 of the world's wealth I'm going to have a chamber group composed of an oboe, pair of english horns, a bassoon and a french horn play entertain me at all times... really I don't see the point of any other wind instruments

I played trombone in high school.  I even got bored and went through the closets in the band hall and found a trombone with 3 valves and a fixed slide.

:rofl :rofl :rofl

Can you please explain to me why the Saxophone, god's given instrument, does not count?

On the rare occasion I hear a really good sax player, it still isn't quiet enough. My Tuba could play louder for Pete's sake :rofl

Learn to read in F, and learn the thumb button.  It may seem wierd now, but as a 4-valve tuba player I can tell you the fingerings will be much quicker when using your extra valve.  The sooner you learn it, the easier it'll get.  Learn the real fingering/lip positions as well because it won't ALWAYS be faster, but it can be.

Yeah, it is definitely wierd having a 4th valve to use, and I am starting to read in F, but it's really screwing with me (the clef, I mean) I play bagpipes, violin, and Tenor Clef Euphonium, so it's wierd how a B for me is a concert F (or something? Haven't quite got it figured out yet.)

:rock I think this might be my favorite-- they've got a few times in there, but it's too long a piece to say :D

Well I kinda play viola. I played for a few years in middle school and recently I was put in the orchestra to flesh out the viola section (there's four of us...). But I'm pretty bad at it.
String instruments are... hard haha
Especially with minimal instruction

Haha I played that my sophomore year in High School.  I play the sax :furious .  Jupiter is a whole lot of fun after it is mastered.  Of course we played the band version.

Here my senior year we are playing these three pieces for our band Festival competition.  I think most of everyone on the forum will recognize our march.

I can't stand the original song, but this cover is AMAZING, and great combo with the Alto
