I am sorry for this late reply but I thought 'better late than never' as my old mum used to say. I noticed you finished the letter with some of those emoticon 'conversational enhancers' and thus assumed your letter was intended in a jovial sense. It certainly got a laugh out of me, I can tell you now!

Well I appreciate the offer but my bonnie lassie would cuff me round the ear. That said, she's a good looking lass and ever such good fun so I doubt I would be tempted to stray even at your venerable suggesting.
