I cannot speak with authority on what the Germans saw during WW2. What I can say having shot many thousands of tracers is that the rounds are coated at the tip and would be visible from all angles? Does this sound reasonable?

Sounds highly reasonable.  I can say without a doubt that from all angles I couldn't see them.  :rofl

Ditto no tracers, thought they had tracers turned off and said to myself "those buff drivers are smart"  :uhoh

Attacked two sets of bombers yesterday and got matching pilot wounds but no tracers.

Confirmed after a squaddie & I tested it out. I always have my tracers on, but they did not show tonight.

They seem to show for the bomber pilot as he is shooting, but the fighter pilot can't see them.

Definitely needs to be fixed.

:furious I was making my 2nd spotless run over an enemy airfield when I notice Killhound in his enemy B24s just below me.  I saw our paths might intersect, but I was dead set on keeping my head in the Norton sight.  GaBoom!! I lose a drone and quickly reset my salvo to compensate.  I pin point my target and drop, and immediately go to my tail guns, but no threat there.  I grab my nose gun position, all the while my formation is pinging from lead all over, and see Killhound is 800 of my low 1 oclock (no tracers)  :headscratch:

I start standing on my fire button and see all 3 of his 24's light up like Christmas trees!   :O  From that point on, it was the wackiest formation versus formation battle that I have ever had, including at least one almost HO pass in which I lost another drone, but on each pass I saw his 24s get lit up for some pretty good wallops  :rock  Finally, I lost all aileron control and retreated the best I could using rudder, elevator  and throttle.  I made it home to my field and on the runway just after I received the confirmed message on 2 of Killhound's 24s.   :D

I am thinking this gonna be epic when I land these...... and the dang B17 won't stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I brought her down so smoothly that she rolled off the runway and back up in the air for an instant and then without aileron help.............  Well, I sure botched that up ...... GaBLAM!!!!  TOWER!!!

:salute  Killhound that made my day.  In this instance the no tracers was a plus!
