Computer turns off on loading
« on: March 14, 2012, 05:39:46 PM »
After i choose which arena and click 'ok' to enter the arena i get the 'Did You Know' loading bar like always. While its trying to load up my computer will completely turn off. no warnings or anything, just straight off. It used to do this from time to time and now it does it everytime. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

how about when you play other games or you just stay online.  are there any problems there too?  something is going bad.  and my guess based on the last thing that went bad on me is the power supply.

you sure the inside of you computer is clean?  it could be an overheat problem.  but first things first.  check the connections mayke sure you dont have a lose cable.  my pedals are right in front of the power strip and once in a while i would push on the power cable to the power supply and it would turn off since it was lose.  hell you never know :).

If you are fairly confident you know how to move files and save them, I have a suggestion to try.

This will not involve a complete re install...... yet.  Save all of your configuration and setting files somewhere safe, where you know that you can retrieve them later.  Then remove the current AH file that should reset your settings to default.  I will check, but there used to be a file called video8.cfg or something like that.  That is the file that I would have to remove and then reload AH to reset my settings to default.

My computer used to do the same thing a while back, but it was because of a bad setting  :headscratch: and marginal video card overclocked I believe.

PS  I just looked and there is an entire folder now in the Aces High folder called "settings".  Copy that folder and save it somewhere safe first.  Then you can experiment to see if removing the video8.cfg folder and running the game will stop the computer crashes.  Also if you manually overclocked your video card, I would start there first by returning it to default settings.   Anyhow, good luck and hope some of this is helpful.

Sounds like a power supply is going bad, or as Chili said, something corrupt in the Windows installation itself.
