With Aces High it's not about speed.. it's about latency. There are many people here with limited options that play just fine using a 56K modem the old fashioned way! To be perfectly honest that may be your best option as well.
To simplify things internet speed is like how fast you can talk. Latency (or lag) is the amount of time between when you start talking and when the other person starts to hear what you're saying. Since all of the rendering is done on each person's computer there really isn't a whole lot of data that needs to be transferred however since the game is played in "Real time" the timing of that data is critical otherwise you run into problems such as warping, "rubber bullets", delayed notifications, and if it gets to be too bad disconnects. It's not that you are necessarily disconnected from the internet it's that the Lag gets so unpredictable that Aces High simply says "I can't work with this goodbye!"
The problem with wireless internet methods, especially satellite and cell (although cell technology is always improving) is that they tend to have high and inconsistent latency. This isn't an issue for web browsing but can be problematic with gaming. I've heard of some people that have almost no issues playing AH through cell internet and I've heard of others that can't even stay connected for any amount of time. It all varies based on interference, signal strength, and cell tower congestion. Anytime any part of your network and/or internet connection is wireless all bets are off.
Typically speaking here is the list of internet access types ranging from lowest (good) to highest (bad/inconsistent) latency:
-Wired High Speed Internet (DSL/CABLE/FIOS) (Low Latency, Very Consistent)
-WIFI ISP Providers (Typically low Latency but inconsistent)
-56K Dial Up (Middle Latency, Very Consistent)
-4G Cell Internet (Middle to High Latency, inconsistent)
-Satellite (Extremely High Latency, somewhat inconsistent)
-3G or older Cell Internet (Middle to High Latency, extremely inconsistent)
