Turn off Collision
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:27:10 AM »
I dont know about anyone else, but I am tired of getting in collisions, especially when I am avoiding them and the enemy plane makes a turn into me while HO'ing and I get either killed, or damaged enough to crash or have to ditch while the enemy just flys away! In Air Warrior, back in those days, the collision model was not enabled and the game was more fair as to air to air combat. I can avoid a HO for the most part, but I am really tired of being rammed and see other plane just fly away undamaged...its BS.  :bhead

I like collision because they happened in RL.  I wish collisions were turned on for friendlies so we would fly a little more carefully, once off the runway or spawn 10 ft behind a friendly sitting on the runway spawn.

With time you will collide less. And when you will do, you will know why!

Break away earlier. D600 - start Looking for a direction to break. D400 - turn your plane in that direction but still keep your plane opposite to the enemy's. D200 - break.

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

I don't see any issue.

With time, practice and patience, you will be able to fly smarter yet still aggressively and be able to avoid collisions. Remember, you only take damage from a collision if the game on your computer sees a collision.

i have tried to turn at D1000 and still get rammed. I know it is on purpose most times by a heavier built plane. Perhaps the enemy plane is low on fuel or ammo and wants to just ram me to take me out. But the fact that they dont get killed and I do is the REAL issue. Lets be real here...two prop planes fly at 300mph at each other, lets say a few Pipers, they collide...do you really think one would just keep on flying? Heck no! Both planes go down and both pilots would die!

To fix this...IF planes collide in AH, both planes go down and the pilots die. This would help the game a lot and people would not HO as much or ram on purpose.

Pull some neg-G before the merge. Problem solved.

True and good idea. Still, it is unrealistic that two planes collide at 300mph and one flys off without hardly any damage. Come on!

Colisions have a 50/50 chance for either epic win or fail. I would really like for AH to code somethin with Colisions to be alot more like rise of flights model.

Actually it's four planes. You were one of the two that collided. The one that flew away was one of the two that didn't.

Having no collisions would result in gamey things like machine gun armed aircraft flying through their targets, guns blazing.  It would also encourage more HOs, particularly from machine gun armed aircraft.
