Well theres our solution right there; quit providing treatment and care for self-inflicted injuries with stupidity as a primary cause.

We'll kill two birds with one stone: save money and reintroduce natural selection to the human population.

Tank ace, I'd love to get two birds stoned at once too but if you think that the education system is the only place that nurtures stupidity you're quite wrong.

I'll share some insane happenings and company philosophies I've experienced working for a few different types of companies over the past 20 years.

Family Owned Butcher Shop:  "Fingers grow back"  my boss actually said that when a coworker sawed off some fingertips.  He just looked at me with a straight face and said "don't worry bobO, they'll grow back."

Family owned mechanical contractor:  Nevermind my interview took place in a bar, and they looked at me like I was insane when I didn't order any alcohol.  The owner also took offense to my putting on a seatbelt while he was driving as though the problem was my lack of faith in him.  They didn't care if a circuit was hot or not, anyone who was working with single phase was a "popsicle" for taking extra time to find the breaker and shut it down.  After  I bent the frame and broke all the axles off my company truck they started referring to me as the stuntman.

Fortune 50 Mechanical Contractor with 165,000 employees on 6 continents.
They just went for maximum safety overkill and placed all employees in situations that essentially forced us to break all the rules in order to keep the customer happy.
Holding any hand tool without company approved cut resistant gloves = Get sent home for a day without pay.  This included screwdrivers.  If I were to use a power tool we had to change to leather gloves or get sent home for a day without pay.
Set foot in a boiler room without hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection and gloves = Sent home for a day without pay.
Set foot in a room with 600 volt circuits without changing into an arc flash rated jumpsuit with accompanying gloves, face shield, ear protection and hard hat = Get sent home for a day without pay.  At one of my weekly customer's foundries we would literally climb on 13,000 volt lines to get to a few of my responsibilities.  Not once did I see anyone use their arc flash gear there.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

tbh how many in this thread are confident with their 19th century history. Who can talk about Carpathia without hitting wikipedia, or tell us what the most significant 19th century political events were.

Better still who here still think the U-571 movie was real?

Umm...... I never said the problem was with the educational system alone. And I posted in a toung-in-cheek manner.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

The U-571 movie was real.

The depictions illustrated in the movie "U-571" were not real.

I am going to say this once:

"If you are looking for the guilty, you only need to look in a mirror"

These "Kids" are learning their habits from somewhere... time to take a look at ourselves and how we raise these children... the generation that "worked" for a living are trying to provide a worry free life for their kids... and here is the result.
