Haven't been around here for awhile but I thought I'd share this with you guys.



Doesn't require a whole lot of words..... The back end slipped out going around a turn on a dirt road. We slid off and T-boned a tree that launched us in the air and turned us around 180 degrees. Somehow I managed to stay awake through the impact thuough my friend that was driving was unconcious when we came to a stop. She hit her head pretty hard but has been released from the hospital with no serious injuries. I have a few cuts from broken glass and bruises where my knees hit the dash. The airbags did deploy so that helped. I have a pretty nasty bruise from the airbag on my arm and the right side of my face is swollen from hitting the airbag. Somehow, someway, we were both able to crawl out of the vehicle and walk away before any help showed up after my friend came to. Just an unblievable evening...

I don't understand how one can lose control on a dirt road...

Then again a female was driving...

Sorry for the loss, thats a darn nice looking truck, can it be repaired? With the bruises I know how that feels, I remember when I wrecked the student driver car at driving ed(Which I was told wasn't my fault but the instructors), the air bag hit my left arm and made it slam into the window, whole arm was purple, bleeding, and swollen for about 3 hours. Thankfully I was the only one hurt though.

How fast were you going though? and glad y'all alright for the most part

It's a good thing you both came out of it okay.

That being said; Just a little too fast, were we not?  You both are lucky though, as it could have been worse.

Now if the road is in rough shape (potholes) and the truck wash boarded out from underneath of her, that's the only possible way you can lose it on a dirt road.

All it takes is "too much pressure on the gas pedal" at the wrong time and you are spun around.    Has this happened to me?   No.   However, it doesn't take much and I have witnessed this a few times following someone, which is why I don't tailgate at all.

Washboard surfaces show up quite suddenly in certain corners if it has been raining while the rest of the road is smooth.

When living in the mountains of virginia, I replaced rear shocks every year because it only took a few months before washboard surface would cause the rear wheels to spend way too much time in the air instead of on the road.

ur dang lucky it hit where it did. any farther forward she probably would not have survived. sideways impacts at that speed have a tendency to tear aortas and lung arteries not to mention head injuries

Looks to be gravel that stuff at the wrong speed can get you and with bumps from a grader on em you can get into a bad spot quick.

We hit a washboard as we started the turn and if you've ever drove a pickup you know how light the back of a truck is. So the back tires started bouncing and we spun. We were only going about 40mph when we started to spin so its not like we were flying at insane speeds.

  Those washboards can be so severe they just bounce the vehicle sideways. Glad you both are OK. Thank the modern safety  technology in that truck. Some people are naive thinking it couldn't happen to them.

Honestly if you have driven on a dirt road much you can understand.

I have done some stupid stuff on dirt roads and got lucky I did not end up in some ditch.
