I used to watch him all the time. He was an amazing Artist.
Just to watch his creativity. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago.
Just a short film of him starting a new painting, it's not whole show.
I recommend watching several. Wish I could paint lol.

Use to watch him, bought his painting kit, tried to paint a pretty little tree next to a lovely little brook.  He cool!  Miss him.

 :salute Bob Ross

Loved his show. And I bet many here dont know he was once a drill sergeant.

"Ross was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, and attended school until the ninth grade.[2] Raised in Orlando, Florida,[3] Ross enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at age 18[2] and was living in Florida early in his military career when the Air Force transferred him to Eielson AFB (in Alaska), where he first saw the snow and mountains that later became recurring themes in his artwork; he developed his quick-painting technique in order to be able to create art for sale in brief daily work breaks.[4] Having held military positions that required him to be, in his own words, "mean" and "tough," "the guy who makes you scrub the latrine, the guy who makes you make your bed, the guy who screams at you for being late to work," Ross decided that if he ever moved on from the military, "it wasn't going to be that way any more," "vowing never to scream again".[4] Ross discovered after beginning his sideline in painting that he was soon able to earn more from selling his work than from his Air Force position. After leaving the Air Force, he studied with Bill Alexander before becoming famous worldwide with his own television program, The Joy of Painting.[1]"

Anyone remember the other artists show. I think the guy was German by his accent.
Basically his demeanor was the polar opposite of Rosses.
As opposed to Rosses softly spoken. "you put on happy little leaves"

this guy was more like

"Und you place ze leafs on ze trees like ziz! As he would stab the paint onto the canvas

 :rofl

if you say so I guess.

big difference between what he painted and what I paint.... :aok

anyone can paint trees and mountains his style was all technique...

even the very best have a hard time painting realism, especially portraits....

until you know what you speak of..... to say anything just makes ya look like an idiot. :aok

I am far from conceded, but I was beyond him a long time ago.

EDIT
let me add, I like Bob I watched him as a kid and think he was awesome....

it is a fact, that what he did anyone can learn, he was all about teaching people that never painted before, and showing them how to do what he did.

what I do he could not do, and not just anyone can learn to do...I have never been to art school, I am a 100% self taught artist...

I would like to see him pull this off

or this

maybe these

or this done in Pen over 20 years ago

pfffft

Both are great artist BUT your comparing apples and oranges here.

Bob did natural scenes that are eye catching but lack a high level of detail at closer inspection. Ink does very high detail work that no doubt takes him a very lengthy time to make it the way he wanted.

Both styles are equally as beautiful but in different ways. Inks is something where you go wow I wonder how long he spent on that and Bobs is wow can you believe he did all that so quickly?

Besides a couple at the state fair, who wants art that was sketched in a hurry?  Meticulous detail is much more important.

Ink, try a Bob Ross type scene (mountains, lakes, trees, a cabin and a path, etc) and let's see what it looks like.  Just curious.... not interested in who is better... just would like to see your version. :rock

I'm sure both are amazing.  :aok

Ink's pretty good enough to make a living off his artwork in one way or another. Wish i was so fortunate  :)
