very strange
« on: May 09, 2012, 12:04:37 AM »
the wife and I were sitting down, I was flying, she is on her facebook, kids watching TV....

absolutely no lie....all of a sudden we hear a VERY loud Crack...only way to describe it...happen...in the room WE WERE IN ... :O   it almost sounded like gun fire but was to high pitched for that....all the kids were freaked out pretty badly....sounded like one of those old poppers but 100 times louder...my boy says he say a flash.....no bad smell....nothing like that after...

I am sitting here 3 hours later still trying to figure out what the hell it was.  :headscratch:

I am stumped

very strange indeed.

Something wooden and structural in a piece of furniture most likely.  It's amazing the energy a beam of wood in a couch or chair can store.  When it lets go it can be a very loud sound.

PFD I am going through the room and cant find anything at all... there is not a whole lot of furniture in here and if there was a flash like the boy says, cant be that....

Karnak I was thinking that but wouldn't it have some kind of smell?   and besides that all the outlets are fine...no windows broke....nothing out of place.... I am seriously stumped, wife and I are talking about it right now, she is freaked out....trying to tell her that it was something that is simple, but she don't believe me...hell I don't think I do :(

Ball lighning perhaps, sir?

If nothing else, just tell it to your wife to calm her down.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.

   Ink,

Check your fuse panel see if you have a burnt fuse or popped circuit.   If it was electrical something should be amiss with the panel.

A breaker will pop or a fuse will blow if it's a short to prevent a fire in most cases.

As PDF said it could be lumber related also,a floor joist or ceiling joist/roof truss can make loud noise if it fractures.

I understand the panel may not be near you but a wire could have shorted and caused an arc and loud bang.

If the fuse panel is ok then you can pretty much rule out an electrical issue!

I have a mexican ghost that lives in my house. I turn off the TV and I wake up and its on Telemundo
