aviation artwork in ur ready room
« on: May 25, 2012, 06:50:41 AM »
Just wondering if anyone else is smitten. I was at an art gallery a few weeks ago picking up some stuff for Mrs Rhino and saw the original painting for this on the back wall. Not wanting to drop 25K I inquired if they had any prints available for a reasonable price. They did and three prints later  myself and the other two founders of the squadron now have them. This link doesnt do the painting justice but the attention to detail is just jaw dropping. Its hung in my office where I can see it while flying. Anyone else have some artwork similar hanging in their ready room? Show it off.

PS- the artist is nicolas trudjin and the painting is titled safe haven

I got this one as a gift from my squad when I was CO of the 444th Air Mafia and it is proudly hung over my desk. It's signed by the artist, Edwin Markham and is a print of his painting "Hell Bent For Leather". It has all the mafios's names on it as well as the Mafia logo.

I have two prints in my Ready Room.

I keep giving my wife hints that I have two more walls in there.  ;)

I have several.  Among them are:

This one, given to me as a gift from 'Shifty':

and this hand cut and machined piece made for me by 'Canukk':

under which is this most excellent drawing by 'Canukk', of my Fw190D-9 complete with my FSO record on the rudder board:

 Thanks Morf,
It's really a very nice looking print. Judy had it framed professionally and gave it to me for Christmas a couple of years ago.
It's titled Corsairs of the Intrepid. The artist is Stan Stokes. The 78th P-47 print is by Robert Taylor titled Mighty 8th Outward Bound it was a gift to me from Jester.

Here's Jandina III flown by the 80th FS's leading ace Jay Robbins, and signed by him.

Here's the 41st FS P-39s escorting C-47s up to Wau.  #74 in the lead. :)

And I have this poster, given to me by an old Lockheed employee, framed on my wall.

The only art print I have hanging is "Clifftop Chase" by Geoff Nutkins....

All the rest of the decor consists of photos (enlarged and framed, some from airshows, some bought) and framed posters, as well as the collection of 1/18 and 1/32 scale warbirds.....
