262 Perk loss
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:11:04 PM »
Since the 262 was essentially a bomber interceptor, but in game is nearly suicidal to go against a B-26, B-17, B-24 or B-29.  Most who fly them only fight other fighters.

Maybe it would be better to lose less than the full perk value if killed by a bomber.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

The K/D of the 262 vs bombers is much higher that it's K/D vs fighters, almost twice as high.

In 2011, about 41% of the 262's kills had been multi-engine formation bombers, with an overall K/D of 12

The 262 K/D's vs the heavies for 2011 in detail:

B-17 9.14
B-24 10.63
Lancaster 19.03
B-29 2.89

Doesn't look "suicidal" to me.

He was making a general statement about the 262's effectivity vs bombers, and so was I. Didn't type a single word about me. ;)

His motivation may be a different story  :noid

262 not effective? Top Gun had 4 pilots shoot down near 100 bombers in the previous Scenario without a loss.

And that is only 3 frames out of 4, don't think we had 1 pilot in the 4th frame.

Show off. :paranoid

I don't fly the 262, but the incessant 88 fire at the fighters that I do fly reminded me of the way 262s look and fly like they did during the war but are rarely used like they were used during the war.

You'd better be careful or you might throw out your shoulder from "repetitive self congratulation syndrome".  :uhoh

Has nothing to do with that, he's whining about it being ineffective when its clearly not.

Not whining, just pointing out the silly way the deuce is implemented in AH.

So the 262 killing buffs 12-1 isn't good enough? ;)

The 262 is an awesome force in the sky.  It has a learning curve, but it doesnt take a jock to fly it successfully.  Anyone with a wee bit of patience and gunnery skills of an 8 year old can have fun in a 262.

Well when it's 24-1 against fighters I can't help but wonder.
