Karnak, I believe you are mistaken, there has been no official user (in-game) poll since.  I just went looking again and found no poll, at least which had its results published, as being more-recent.  If I recall correctly the first post/mention regarding the 410 entering development from HiTech or HTCs has the answer, but from my (s!@#y) memory it is because it scored greater than 40% against the B-29 in the final round of the poll I quoted earlier.

Babalonian,

The last in game poll came down to the Yak-3 vs the Me410 and the Me410 won.

You appear to have missed it.  It was all "fighters" and all "non-American".  Beaufighter and Meteor were also on it.

Here is Pyro's thread about the results from Round 3:

EDIT:

Heck, reading through that thread you posted in it, Babalonian.  Are you ok?

Without the Me-410, very curious to see what the next fighter poll will be.

I wish the g.55 would get more then 5% of the votes, most people probably have no clue what the hell a g.55 is besides a blender at walmart.

I would like the Beaufighter.

In other sims that have a rolling planeset, the Beau is awesome in early war dates, mid war dates, and late war dates.

Ki-43, Yak-3, Beaufighter, HE-111 seem logical choices.  So many more can be added (KI-100 etc.).  Wish we would get more new planes per year.  Still, AH has done a bang up job on what we DO have.  :aok

Now I remember, the Yak-3 poll.   :rofl  I thought/vaguely-remembered there was another poll, but couldn't find it on the main webpage or the BBS's "Anoucnements" category.  It was done in-game too I believe.

(has it really been 8/9-months?)

Man how could I have forgotten!  I was really curious why the last poll's two runner ups were included against an assortment of really good choices that not a lot of the community had probabley ever heard about before (you know, Karnak, "the fighters being non-American" and all  :neener: ).  Everyone/anyone could of predicted which would become the runner-ups, again and such.

This thread's OP should apreciate my forgotten babling from back then: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,322178.0.html  :rofl

IMHO, as long as we don't have the He-111 this planeset will be critically maimed...

Sorry, no need for LW planes when the EW and MW planesets look like a RTB He-111 after BoB mission...

It has become a popularity vote.  Same as todays All-Star game in baseball.

So planes like the Oscar, Ki100, Beaufighter, Pe2...planes that the general populous

of the MA never never land first person shooter arena never heard of have little if any chance.

Anything deemed thefastestbiggestgunnnedmoste stgreatest has the best chance.

That is just the way it is.

As far as history goes, it's not the Western Allies' planeset that is the most lacking. I suggest you take a look at the planeset of the USSR.

...I know, they're godless commies so they don't count.

Sure they count, the Soviet plane set is way under-represented. That said, they're still Godless commies.....   ;)

Kind off topic a bit here but...

How did Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 do it? I mean they had 300 something planes, was it because of a larger dev team or just rushed flight modeling?

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

Il-2's flight models are much simpler.  They are all the same with just different weights, roll rates and power levels as far as I can tell.  There is never any airframe specific flight behavior.
