Kurt Tank percieved early the need for single-engined fighters in the zerstörer role and proposed the Ta152A/B to the RLM in sept/oct '43 as a replacement for the Bf110/Me410 fleet. The armament of the 152A/B would have been the MG151/20, two in front of the cockpit, two in the wing roots and two outboard. Topped off with a Mk108 or Mk103 engine mounted it would have been a potent package. The 152A/B would have used the Jumo 213A (which was later used in the FW190 D-9 with great success). At the time however (late '43) the 213A was a underpowered option to the BMW radials, and the RLM turned down the Ta152A/B types (B was intended for nachtjagd) for, as they put it, "it offers no advantages over existing types" (meaning the Bf109G and FW190A). They were wrong however in that regard, as the Ta152 had far bigger development potential as was later proven, both by the FW190D and the Ta152H.

Had the Ta152A/B types been given production status, they would have started coming off the lines by january-february of '44.

i think going to AvA isn t a good idea for that event. it was just growing interest in the MA and now it should go to an arena which is mostly emty?!
im sure we will have more fun staying in MA.

For many participating in this thursday night "event", the historical aspect of gameplay is important and going to the AvA will reinforce that historical aspect. The MA is about as ahistorical as it can get within the AH environment. It kindof shatters the experience flying with a pack of 190s in formation when a "friendly" P51 come in blurting out all kinds of unimaginables on range. Or at the very least it hurts the eyes and ears. I guess that's the sort of MA-spicing we all would like to escape by going to the AvA.

If you think the MA is so great, just stay there.  :aok

i haven t said the ma is great, only that it would be a better place for that event.
i like the big formations and taktikal fliing of the escorts in that missions.
all the action during the flight with the mission thrue the countrys.
it was alot of fun a lot of action and surly a lot of unexpected enemys.

but imagine the 8th mission in the AvA Arena when only 40 peoples are on on both sides. much less action and for me much less fun.

dont understand me wrong, it will be a good time for you in the AvA but for me it will be nothing to get out of the bed at 3 o clock at the morning  ;). the MA 8th mission was.

Well I'm not sure I'm going up at 2 or 3 am either for this thing, just that it seems a heck of a lot more likely that I will now that it is to be on a more historical setup in the AvA.

One of the things that will happen when the bugs get worked out is the AI bombers and fighters.  Eventually, there will be 50 formations of bombers instead of 15-20.  There will be AI fighters patrolling on both sides.

Lots of imagination to designing the missions without limiting to real life players comprising the only aircraft in the arena.

Moving from the MA, the 8th AF Mission gets the BoB map.  That changes the enviroment to more historical missions.  That down the road leads to detailed mission objectives and planning for both sides.

In a couple of months, I would like to add liberation of Occupied Airfields from France and low lying countries then to Germany herself.  That involves dual missions.  High altitude bombing of rear bases and base capture starting with coastline bases.  The Axis can always retake what has been lost and try to get across the channel.

With the AI, there will be lots of ways to make an event unique.

For right now, the modus operandi is keeping it simple.  Adding to it when the time is right.

TunnelRat - The plane set for these missions does not mirror DGSII.  This is independent of the upcoming scenario and designed to give folks a wider choice of A/C to pursue the fun in.  And as Kuya mentions...is evolving all the time.
